I can't believe I'm bothering to write this...
If you were too slow to beat the flippers to your purchase, you were probably too slow to beat the other fans.
Romeo, we get it. You are a broken record. All the internet tough guy talk in the world isn't going to change how the world works.
Retailers sell things to make money. Oh you're a fan? Who cares. There are a whole bunch of fans out there. And guess what, most of them have more money to spend than you do.
Should a retailer raise prices to insure that only "true fans" who are willing to shell out more can get any particular item? That doesn't seem to work. Take a look at all the bitching in the Irrational store thread about the prices on signed items. All of those recent signed releases are still available in the store. They don't sell on the aftermarket, so they are not selling out. As a retailer, is it not preferable to sell out your whole stock immediately? Strong aftermarket drives that.
Well then, why don't they just make more so everyone can have one? Take a look in the Bethesda thread where people are complaining about there being too many of things produced, making them less "collectible".
You want people to not be able to do what they wish with things they have purchased? Asinine.
