I agree with most of their points as to why it is separate from the game; only drawback is double shipping.
But it is great in a sense that you can buy your local/region's version of the game and get the pre-order DLC, etc. I know it feel incomplete without it, but I see it as an advantage to most collectors. Also allows you to collect "sealed" all while enjoying the game.
I haven't opened mine yet actually, but the box is a pretty good size and it feels sturdy. Happy that I bought mine!

aha! but see now u r treating it as a game edition

otherwise i can buy a game and keep merchandise sealed (as usual with most collectors). (btw im ok with it as well, just for the sake of conversation and trying to look at it from all angles)
so now, from a video game collector point of view: is this edition merchandise or is it a version of the video game.
For instance a lot of video game ash ketchums would buy the ntsc-j, ntsc, pal, and any other version to have them all, would this be part of the all, or would it be gaming merchandise?
