Sealed is meaningless. In fact it's usually an opportunity to be ripped off. If it's sealed and I'm paying an after market price I have no idea if all the contents are in tact (e.g. physical collectibles like figures, statues, prop replicas.

But then, why should I know if all the contents are in tact or not? Because even if there were some broken contents, it's not like I could know as my collection is meant to be sealed.
Also, there are so many collector's editions available yesterday, today and tomorrow that you wish you could collect. But money is always the problem. So when I have sealed collections, I could sell each one of them at a huge price (more than their initial prices) and use that money to buy even more collector's editions. So I pretty much doubled/tripled my money to buy even more stuff without having to hurt my wallet.
