Of course you have to care about the game.
I'm English. I'm more excited about this one than any of the AC games.
If I was a hoarder I'd be sitting in the Final Fantasy threads - a game I have zero interest in.
But I'm also not going to spend nearly $200 on collectibles that shrink in value. It's not sustainable for me. I collect a lot of things. They bring me great pleasure.
Future value is a factor (one of many). I have limited space and my collection changes over the years. Old pieces must make way for new. So in fact I'm the opposite of a hoarder.
It's a criteria for me and many other collectors. Especially if an old piece can fund a new piece. It's just smart.
To be clear it's a part of MANY criteria including my personal attachment to the game.
Just like breaking down manufacturing costs between two levels of CE is not a criteria for me.

Excited is probably the last thing you should be based on the quality of Unity on release!
Sure they fixed it up, but not without massive community uproar and disapproval. Having to wait weeks for a game to be fixed (that should be polished on release) is completely unacceptable.
If future monetary value of a collectible is more important to you than the positive connection you have to the game, then you need to cut down your collection imo (that was the impression of your previous post). For me, old pieces stay in the collection regardless of their age because they were bought out of true desire, not how scarce they are going to be in a few years.
I have never sold a collectible piece unless it was defective. You can check my collection thread by clicking on my started threads. All my collectibles are on display and stay on display otherwise its not a collectible, its a novelty, and doesn't stand the test of time.
