If you do go LCD I recommend getting the highest resolution monitor that you can and then running HLSL in MAME or MESS, the scanline and phosphor glow emulation is superb when setup correctly, but it does require 1080p or higher in order to look right. you wont get the flicker effect of a real crt and you can disable the scanline jitter that is usually responsible for scan-line induced headaches.

this is what I use on my Kraylix cab and while it's not quite the same as a real CRT, it looks 1000x better than the blocky blurry mess that you normally get when running classic games on an LCD
