I highly doubt it is sold out. Ubi makes more then enough CEs each time, there is always an abundance even long after releases with all the other CEs. Well at least they have for the past 4 games.
I find it just stupid they want to make it so you have to go to their store. I am sick of these companies doing this crap. Ubi is worse then EA now with this stuff. You could only get Titanfall through Origin but I think Ubi is doing this with some of their games too like the past couple AC games where you need Uplay just to get the game. It is bullshit and all in the name of more profit and less consumer choice. |
To be fair, its not just Ubi, several other companies seem to have switched to doing this now as well. Perhaps they got tired of having all of them sitting on shelves and losing money hand over fist on them as well? SquareEnix has limited several CEs (including Tomb Raider) to exclusively their store (although it seems they realized people didn't like that and sold some of the DQ:heroes stock to Amazon/GS even though they still advertise it as "exclusive" to their site). I have a feeling we'll be seeing some more of this type of behavior though and will likely see less stock made as well. But I don't know the future, so just wagering an educated guess here really.
