Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours (Vita) Just sold out within the last hour. Despite heafty criticism all around the internet concerning the price point at which this game was being offered at ($49.99 US) the game still managed to sell out in a shorter time than some of the previous Vita game titles which LRG has published that were at similar production run numbers and... half the price!
LRG's CEO Josh has acknowledged via Twitter that this was a successful sale and has served as proof to other Japanese companies they are courting publishing deals with that they have a consumer base which will buy Vita games even at a $49.99 price point. No word as to whom these other JP publishers may be, but is very important to note two of these four factors (
1 and 3) concering Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours.
- 1. Kadakowa Games was the Japanese physical release publisher.
- 2. Kadakows Games has published a total-to-date of thirty-one Vita games in Japan. With this one making the fifth of said game titles to be re-licensed and have a physical release in R1.
- 3. Taito was the game's developer.
- 4. Taito is a wholly owned subsidiary of Square Enix.
I think anyone can see why this game selling successfully is such a big deal in the long run for LRG.
Also worht noting that we learned months ago that the LRG cover variant of
Sharin no Kuni will retail for $49.99 whenever it is released.
