It's a bit too much Dark Soul'ish, don't you agree? I rather have the gameplay from the second game. (as a Dark Souls fan / completionist)
No. I think people are bandwagoning on that comparison and it is doing a huge diservice by giving people the wrong idea about the game. Anyone who has played Dark Souls and then plays Darksiders 3 and thinks the combat is like Dark Souls I honestly would suggest they get a CT scan

And I do not defend a game becasue I like the franchise (I ragged on 2 for not having as good a story and feeling less focused, 3 has the same issues actually, 1 is still the best of the 3)... I am very self aware (I only taunted the way I did becasue of how blunt you said it... if you said it was not amazing I would agree but saying it "sucks" is just as close to inaccurate of an opinion as you can get IMO, this is not Fallout 76). The game is a good game (a solid 7, which is what the other games got for scores...)... not amazing and not great but good (and it is a worthy entry into the Darksiders franchise... becasue this is my favorite franchise I am really hard on it but like with anything it has context and the history of this once dead franchise effects how we see it a bit). It also is a Darksiders game through and through (yes some systems are tweaked but still overwhelmingly Darksiders... especially as you progress and get more weapons/abilities it is almost a note for note remake of Darksiders 1 if you pay attention).

The combat and game is Darksiders through and through. The combat is a bit slower but only by a bit and only becasue it focuses a bit more on counter attacking then the previous games (like the new God of War did but not even close to that degree of change). I played on Story difficulty mode to start and it played just like 1 on Normal difficulty mode (so really it is just Darksiders with a bit more difficulty... that not a Dark Souls like game make).

This guy lays out how they make the Dark Souls comparison to every game that has any difficulty now-a-days and I think the second video points out all the systems that people claim are Dark Souls like were in the original Darkisders game which came out before Dark Souls:

EDIT:

On a side note I would say the combat is closer to the new God of War parry then special ability counter attack type combat then the much slower Dark Souls combat... funny how people did not complain much about that combat style in the new God of War. They certainly did not say the game sucked because of it...
