True it can cause problem from bad internet. Maybe in the future if the market for offline play is too big they will allow it but maybe restrict the character to offline play only?

Can't blame them too much since one of the major problem on D2 was duping item and selling it for cash.

I've seen plenty of companies breaking their own rule for greater reason, probably charging extra for official SDK? It's always about money.
