Removing stickers and residue from old PC cardboard boxes?
This is just a random picture I fond but this is the type of box I'm dealing with.
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Commandos-Behind-Enemy-Lines-PC-Games-1998-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/aDoAAOxyaRZR5bsw/$(KGrHqN,!rkFG9sdFYFPBR5bswcOIg~~60_57.JPG Does anybody have advice on the best way to remove these stickers and their residue without damaging the box? Some of these stickers have been on for over 10 years and the boxes are made of cardboard so it can be very easy to damage the box and accidentally remove part of the art on the box because of the sticker. Some also have dried sticker residue and I just don't know what to do. It's impossible to just peel it off so I know something like Goo Gone would probably be best but I'm afraid to try anything without some advice. |

I've had fairly good luck with Goo Gone previously
Although you'll want to spray it onto a napkin/tissue and then rub it onto the sticker most likely Another thing you could use is rubbing alcholol and q-tips You can use q-tips with the goo gone too Most important thing is to be careful as you are working with liquids and cardboard

I use a hair dryer to reheat the glue, stickers usually peel right off no issues. If there's any residue left, use goo gone or nail polisher remover.

Yeah nail polish remover has always worked for me, just wet a tissue/cloth with it and rub gently. Baby wipes sometimes work as well.

Re: Removing stickers and residue from old PC cardboard boxes?
Goo Gone worked perfectly. I put a little bit on a q tip and spread it across the surface of the sticker, let it soak in, then reapplied a little bit more when I was ready to start peeling it off. Each sticker left a lot of residue so I applied goo gone over the residue, wet a towel, and then gently rubbed the sticker residue off with the wet towel. The goo gone was in direct contact with the cardboard and caused no damage or spots. It was a slightly glossy cardboard and a dark color so it may have a different effect on other boxes. I did it to 3 different boxes and it worked fine each time.
