Many moons ago, in the year 199X, a concept of a checklist, of sorts, for collecting was introduced to me via a friend in the form Scrye, a monthly magazine publication dedicated to CCG (Collectible Card Game) and TCG (Trading Card Game) enthusiasts. Each issue had a price guide naming off every card in a specific CCG/TCG run and it was really interesting to see. Wizards of the Coast would later introduce actual printable checklists for Pokemon TCG cards starting with the Gym Heroes expansion, the creation of which may have been infuenced by the popularity among collector's of Scrye's price guide section.

Also in the year 199X, there was a video game company by the name of Working Designs. And said company added a rather amazing section on their website dedicated to the Sega CD. While in this era we might consider this unremarkable, as said company had published a handful of games for said system. Truth be told they had gone above and beyond and done something quite remarkkable which caused quite a stir among video game collector's internet wide. Working Designs had actually catalogged every Sega CD game released in the U.S.A. and even had a thumbnail image of the cover art for most titles. This was simply something that was unprecidented in that age. Video game releases were still in that day very poorly documented, and rarely did the publishers set street dates for releases. Suddenly, Sega CD collector's found themsleves given the exacting knowledge of not just how many games existed for the system, but what their titles were as well.

Fast Forward to the year 2001, Sega of America (SoA) became the first game system producer to ever relase an official checklist of all games officially released on a system with their "The Dreamcast Checklist". Sadly SoA's rapid dumping of the DC left the list abandonned. While the final official version did name every game, there were errors on present on the list. An actual reply from a Sega representitive in mid-2002 confirmed that the list would not be updated again as the Dreamcast section of their website was set to be taken offline soon.

For the next couple of years after that I would stare at and mull over a printed copy of that checklist knowing it was in error. And that was when it ocurred to me, I had the ability to fix it, well not the original file which was an actual Sega product. But, I could make the checklist anew. Gentlemen, we can rebuild it, better, simpler, more accurate. Believe it debuted in 2005, but as I did not keep very good records back then I could be off by a year. Regardless, the last update was made to it in 2007. And going beyond, with help from a few European collector's, I even made an EU checklist. And in 2012 a US checklist appendium.

And now in present time, the task of catalogging all of the Region 1 (U.S.A. & Canada) PS Vita physical releases has been accepted, met, and gone beyond. For R1 PS Vita release there is both a checklist and a directory, enjoy!

It's probably worth noting that as of later this month, those Dreamcast checklists will be out-of-date. Pier Solar And The Great Architects HD is within weeks of shipping, and is for all intents and purposes a proper and legitimate release (unlike previous post-2003 Dreamcast releases which have essentially been commercial homebrews)

Oh, so the long rumored Dreamcast version will finally see the light of day. It will have no bearing on the EU or main US list.

Only the "US Other" checklist is out of date, as all commercial homebrew releases have a sub-section only on it, and I have not updated that since June 12th, 2012. The "EU" and "US" checklists are strictly for official releases, for which there have been none in the last twelve years for either region, nor shall there be again as the GD-R optical medium has been out of production since early 2007. In Japan, the Dreamcast was supported and continued to receive official game releases through early 2007 as well, ending then only due to Yamaha terminating the medium production.

Make no mistake, Pier Solar is a homebrew release. Perhaps better polished than many of its' peers, still not an official release title.

Vita R1 Checlist and Directory both updated today!

This hole list is inaccurate as its missing one game as most people do not know about its existence. Epic mickey 2 did actually get a physical release that was exclusive to mexico for R1.

While the game in question is, miraculously, in English, and a region free release, it is not a Region 1 release. The key here being "Mexico". And the key element that throws many people off being that many of the publishers operating in Mexico volantarily use the ESRB to rate video games as Mexico has no official requirement for video games to be rated, but most gamers their are familiar with said ratings system due to proximity with the U.S.A..

As seen below, The United States of America, The Dominion of Canada, and their territories are all Region 1 consists of. It is, interestingly, a region system that is based loosely on the DVD region code system.

Ya they may not share the same region for dvd but all games for what ever reason are released as R1. In some cases if not alot most games are just releases of the usa version. If the game skips usa the game skips Mexico if the game is edited for what ever reason in the usa its edited for mexico. A lot of games dont even have Spanish as an option in mexico they are simply 100% in English. For what ever reason if they get a Spanish lenguage on the disc some times they will release the brazil copy in mexico. Its like in Canada were some times they will release the european french copy then make a R1 French copy. Despite all dvd region or what not if you buy a game from mexico that region code be it gamecube or ps2 for example they still work here in the USA/Canada but the movies will not.

The region system shown in question is Sony's current PlayStation Region Code system that Sony has based loosely upon the DVD region code system. They began using it for the the PS Vita. I'll explain this in a bit more detail as I feel it will clear up this matter. The progression of Sony PlayStation region coding has been bizzare to say the least.

The old PlayStation Region Code System used for both the PS and PS2:
NTSC U/C = All of North America (+ U.S.A. & D.o.C. Territories) and most of Central and South America.
NTSC J = Japan, Korea, and most of Southeast Asia
NTSC C = China Only
PAL = All the 50hz nations of the world.

PSP Region Code:
Sony's first attempt at a region free game system. UMD Videos are region locked, game UMDs are not.

PS3 Region Codes:
Region Free... sort of. So the systems themselves are region free, but the publishers have the option of region locking the games themselves. This is interesting because with the PS3 the region code for games is the exact same three region system used for Blu-Ray, as the Blu-Ray region code identifier chip in the system is what will determine which region the system identifies itself as being to the few games which are region locked.
A/1 = Japan and Southeast Asia, and North, Central, and Souh Americas + territories
B/2 = Africa, Australia, Europe, The Middle East + territories
C/3 = Asia

PS Vita / PS Vita TV:
New region code map Sony implemented for these two system plaforms is interestingly based on the DVD region code map. Here again, Sony has left the decision of region locking games entirely up to the game publishers, and there have been quite a few games released region locked so far.
Region 1 - U.S.A. & D.o.C. + Their Territories
Region 2 - Europe/Japan/Middle East
Region 3 - Hong Kong/Asia Pacific
Region 4 - Mexico/Central & South America/Australia
Region 5 - Africa/India/Russia
Region 6 - China

Back on specific subject, most of the games sold in Mexico are either imported from the U.S.A. or D.o.C., which is why the ESRB rating system has managed to become unofficially adopted and used there. Mexico has no official policy requiring ratings for video games, so you can figure that the parents who do actually care about the sort of content their children maybe getting exposed to likely prefer buying video games that have independant ratings on them. From a retail standpoint, that makes rated games more likely to sell than games which bare no rating or bare only a voluntary content advisory from the publisher on the packaging.

Mexico is in PlayStation Region 4. If you hunt down actual pictures of Epic Mickey 2's game case you will see that the ESRB rating on both front and backside of the game case are printed in dual-language (English & Spanish). The game is also marked clearly on the back as a region "All" release, meaning not region locked. So again, I see why this has been confusing to you and a few other people on GameFAQs, but Epic Mickey 2 is not on the Region 1 documents because this physical edition in question was specifically released in Region 4.

Divising a region system based on the spoken langauage of the majority honestly would have made a lot more sense, but this is Sony we're talking about.

Just to be clear, the Directory and Checklist are generally updated within forty-eight hours of a new release, I just rarely remember to post as to such here.
