Has GAME.co.uk packaging improved?
I'd like to preorder the MK11 Steelbook edition off Game, but I'm concerned it may turn up as a crumpled mess.
It's been a fair few years since I've ordered off them, has anything improved? |

Re: Has GAME.co.uk packaging improved?
Last time I ordered something from there (been definitely a few months), they used some kind of huge bubble wrap envelope. It was shaped like a big square with the game in the middle and a lot of "protection" area around it (since it was way bigger than the actual game).
That being said, no idea how much it would protect the game when something heavy was to be placed on top of it. |

Re: Has GAME.co.uk packaging improved?
I got the kingdom hearts console from there and the box has quite abit of damage I say for collector pieces they are good but for consoles they are not. It had one side of the console with a large bubble protector I can’t pronounce what it is but it was just one side of the console whereas nothing else protected as it just about fits the cardboard packaging

If anything I'd say they've gotten worse over time.
Like Shellshock said, they seem to have moved to using kind of soft plastic Jiffy bags which in my experience have offered no adequate protection whatsoever. The integrated bubble-wrap doesn't even look like it could protect something from an accidental drop from a couple of feet never mind the whole shipping process. My KH3 Deluxe as a good recent example had a bit of a bashed in corner and the box for the preorder yo-yo was all crumpled too and I would put the blame on the flimsy envelopes. |

Re: Has GAME.co.uk packaging improved?
GAME's terrible packaging is primarily the main cause of me cutting down on CE collecting. Their packaging methods gradually got worse as time went on, despite the amount of complaints made by me and other customers. The amount of items I had to return due to a complete lack of common sense, when all the items needed were a little extra care and attention and to be protected on all sides. GAME had this nasty habit of shoving a large item into a corner of a box, and then filling the void with air pockets - not to protect anything, but simply to fill the space. It eventually caused me unnecessary anxiety, especially when most CE's I was buying were £100-£250 a go! Eventually I had the last straw, and I gave up buying CE's from them. I was easily spending a good £10,000 a year with them, but they lost me all because of their reluctance to use appropriate packaging.

Regarding MK11, I got Mags (from this forum) to send me a copy over and then later I found out I could've gotten it here from a retailer I never would've imagined would have it! Anyways it's all good and it arrived in one piece. I've since cut back on most of my CE collecting too, just don't have the space anymore is the main reason. If a game I want comes with a steelbook, I'll get that otherwise I usually just settle for a standard copy. |
