Not So Special Edition: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Those who purchased the Codex Edition of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood have just lost a little something that makes that release special. Ubisoft announced that they will be offering "The Trajan Market" content free to uPlay members; which is pretty much anyone with a Ubisoft game released in the last year and an internet connection.

While the Codex Edition still has a lot more going for it in terms of collector's appeal, it's always disheartening when you spend the extra money up front for bonus content only to have it given away to everyone after the fact.

I will say that I do like the uPlay feature, if you haven't signed up, it's worth doing so. Basically you get to spend your achievement points on additional content. Whilst I do feel that the DLC is a major attractive point for Assassin's Creed fans, it probably doesn't interest the majority of collector's who prefer physical real-world bonuses over in-game bonuses. The Codex Edition still has a lot going for it such as the ornate box, Dvd, and Codex book

CE's shouldn't be valued in terms of their DLC, as this is pretty worthless to anyone a few years after release date. Plus, as we've seen here, it's always possible that the DLC included in CE's will later become available to all via the marketplace - Perhaps one drawback for modern gaming, where companies are free to distribute DLC however they please

I always expect 'exclusive' DLC to go public at some point. Not a surprise at all.

Yup, good point. And really, all this happened too soon. If this DLC was available for free a couple of years from now, no one would probably care.
