Share your Horror Stories of things that were damaged during shipment
I'm sure we've all been in a situation where we received something that was damaged during shipping... I had this happen to me just yesterday so I figured we should have a thread where we vent about what happened.
RULES: 1. You must post a picture of the damage 2. you must include which store or which seller you purchased it from 3. you must include what the outcome was (did the seller make good? did insurance cover it? or were you stuck with it? did you even make an attempt to resolve it?) --------------------- Item: Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition Bought from: ebay (quantumvikingdj) http://www.ebay.com/itm/230655342672...84.m1439.l2649 Shipped by: USPS Flat Rate I bought this because I wanted the alternate cover art to compliment my Xbox 360 SE... I paid a little more for this one than other auctions because it looked to be in better condition. I was pretty shocked that there would be such severe damage to the front of the box. It wasn't packed the best but the box didn't have any punctures in it so it's pretty impossible that this would have happened during shipping. I sent a message to the seller last night but haven't yet received a response. ------------------- Item: Witch Blade Collector's box Bought from: Amazon.com Shipped by: USPS First Class In addition to games I buy Anime Box sets, This was bought brand new and as you can see arrived in pretty rough shape... I they refunded my money but I still had to pay for return shipping I re-bought this through rightstuf.com and was very happy... FWIW rightstuf.com uses their own design shipping boxes that are, without question, better designed than any shipping box I've seen of any seller. Basically its a box and inside the media is suspended by additional cardboard "loops". this prevents the item from shifting around and gives a good 2" buffer on all sides. all game/movie sellers should use this box design but rightstuf is the only place I know that does. |

Re: Share your Horror Stories of things that were damaged during shipment
Item: The Witcher 2 Collectors Edition Bought From: Shopto.net Shipped by: TNT (i think) These pictures are pretty terrible, since my camera is crap. I took these when i trying to get a hold of a replacement statue. anyway it was sent in a plastic shipping bag with absolutely no protection, i feared the worse and when i opened it up i discovered the statue to be chipped and the packaging to be ripped. The amazing people at Cdprojekt where aware that many people had similar problems and offered replacement statues and a bonus item to say sorry. So the outcome was pretty good, i now have 2 Geralt Stautes and a Witcher Amulet.

Re: Share your Horror Stories of things that were damaged during shipment
Item: Dante's Inferno-Death Edition Bought From: GAME.co.uk Shipped by: Royal Mail This never happened during shipment but was still very upsetting for me and I hope this will help others to not fall into the same trap! I was excited to play this game as soon as I saw the first screen shots,I'm a sucker for a sexy looking hack and slash! So I didn't hesitate to ordered the Death Edition from GAME. It came in the post 2 days before release which I was very excited about to say the least. I opened it oh so carefully as usual and then came across the seal on the inner case. I didn't really think much of it as I always peel them off in one piece very very gently but as you can see it just stripped the print straight off the box!!GUTTED! I never sent it back or complained as I was sure that it would probably do the same again and to be honest I was too excited about serving up the minions of Hell with a large dose of scythed buggery! I read somewhere on this forum that they had a similar problem and next time will try heating up the gum on the seal before trying to remove it. That is a damn fine idea and definitely worth stressing this to other people for the future! Last edited by mr_tris; 08-20-2011 at 03:54 PM. Reason: Extra sentence, grammar. |

Re: Share your Horror Stories of things that were damaged during shipment
Item: Shogun 2 GrandMaster Edition Bought From: Amazon.de Cost: 75 EURO (including shipping) Shipped by: UPS I received a delivery attempt note from UPS at about 1pm on August 18th with a $26 brokerage fee . I called UPS to see if the UPS delivery person can drop off the package at the warehouse so I can pick it up the next day. The warehouse ended up being about 15km away, but I was okay with that, and they confirmed that I was able to pick it up the next day from the morning. I went to the warehouse on August 19th at about 11am to pick up my package, turns out the driver did not drop off the package to the warehouse, so I would have to wait at home again. I was pretty upset since I had to travel pretty far for nothing. One of the nice UPS representative suggested that I can call the 1800 number so I can just pay off the COD brokerage , so the UPS delivery person can just drop off the package infront of my door without me being present. I made the call, and the CSR claims to have sent a message to my delivery person about my confirmation of pay. I got home at around 6pm that day, no packages has arrived, so I waited a bit more. A friend of mine came over at 7pm and noticed a delivery attempt note at the front of my door (UPS person for sure did not ring the doorbell, or else I would have heard). My friend also told me a UPS truck was still around the neighbourhood still delivery items. I decided to drive around to find the truck before more complications happens. I ended up finding the UPS truck and asked the delivery person for my shipment. The delivery person claims he never received a confirmation of me paying, so I had to pay again to get my shipment. Of course, I called UPS again to dispute one of the charges. I brought the box home to examine it, it was in horrible conditions, the packaging was heavily damaged, and you can see the damage to the game itself without opening the box. I took these pictures to make my case against Amazon.de. I emailed them, and told them about my situation (took awhile to navigate through the German site). First Email Response - They apologized and offered either a 9 EURO discount or a replacement My Response - I told them I wasn't interested in a 9 EURO discount, and if I ship it back, it would be really expensive. Plus, I would have to pay the COD brokerage fee if I have to receive it again Second Response - They told me they are going to forward the email to a more appropriate department for more consideration Third Response - They ended up apologizing again and offered a FULL REFUND of 75 EURO, and that I do not have to ship back the items, because they won't have any use for a damaged product. So in the end, I got this CE for just the brokerage fee of $26. The whole thing was a huge hassle, but I was still pretty happy about the outcome. I will try to fix the box as much as I can. The whole CE is absolutely beautiful, it is a shame it ended up being in this condition! |

Re: Share your Horror Stories of things that were damaged during shipment
My Crysis 2 Nano Edition got banged up pretty good. The box outer packaging (which was way to big anyway) got pretty torn apart. The figurine was damaged also, tip of the gun and I couldn't get a new one, as the product was removed from the shelfs here in Denmark, due the figurine containing to much metal or something crazy like that.

Re: Share your Horror Stories of things that were damaged during shipment
We have a similar thread running over on www.sealedgameheaven.com. Here's the link to it for those of you who are able to view it:
http://www.sealedgameheaven.com/inde...ceived-thread/ There's a lot of unbelieveable damage pictures contained within, although the majority are attachments and ony viewable by members. Definitely worth reading through the pages though, and you seriously won't believe what you see! The condition of some of the items I have personally received is unbelieveable! |
