This comes a bit late, but lets give credit to those CEs released in 2011 that stood out.

It is a pretty sought after item, but unfortunately, for a game that did not do so well. Tell your friends to contribute to this thread for a successful poll!

1. Collector's Edition of the Year.
Uncharted: Drake's Deception Explorer's Edition I might be a bit biased on this, considering I only collect Uncharted now, but this CE is every bit worthwhile. The treasure box, the centerpiece of the CE, is very beautiful, and very practical too.

2. Most likely to appreciate in value
Dead Island Treasure Edition Already proved itself to have appreciated in value already with the current Ebay auction. It may go up even more when a sequel comes out.

3. Best CE for a New Franchise
Dead Island Treasure Edition With so many CEs that came out for this game, this one definitely stood out the most. The low production numbers certainly appeals to many, which makes this edition very rare.

4. Best Box Art
Catherine Love is Over Deluxe Edition Of course, this CE deserved 2 different box art. A sexy girl on each one, who wouldn't like it? =)

5. Best Bonus Item
Yakuza 4 Kuro Edition: Ichiban Box Pre-order Bonus With so many Steelbooks as a pre-order bonus for 2011, I am sure it will overshadow this bonus. This item wins by far in my books though.

6. Best Unboxing Experience
Total War: Shogun 2 Grandmasters Edition Very big and heavy CE. Plenty to unbox for this CE, and you can fancy yourself a game of chest after!

7. Most Unique Package Design
Biohazard 15th Anniversary Limited Box Very simple, but yet, has a nice biohazard theme.

8. Most Unique Bonus Item
Yakuza 4 Kuros Edition: Ichiban Box Pre-order Bonus One of a kind.

9. Best CE guide
Deus Ex: Human Revolution by FuturePress Simple, but the gold foil makes it very elegant.

10. Best CE system
Ni no Kuni PlayStation 3 Magical Edition Very very plain...but something about it got to me.

1 - Collector's Edition of the Year : Uncharted 3 Explorer Edition

I absolutely love this CE.. nearly did not order it but very glad i did. Made so well and the game itself is awesome. My CE of the year

2 - Most likely to appreciate in value : Uncharted 3 Explorer Edition

Considering i remember the preorders being sold out on GAME for this.. seems VERY limited so i would expect this to rise in value quite substantialy.


3 - Best CE for a New Franchise : Catherine

It is unique in every aspect and not what people expect, has great boxart and a good game..

4 - Best Box Art: Catherine

Different in every sense of the word excellent boxart!!!

5 - Best Bonus Item : Yakuza 4 Kuro Edition: Ichiban Box

Never seen anything like this as a preorder bonus usually just a Soundtrack or the usual but nothing this unique

6 - Best Unboxing Experience : Sonic Generations Collectors Edition

Awesome CE and great to see the well made Figure and Ring inside.

7 - Most Unique Package Design : Assassins Creed Revelations Collectors Edition

i like the way the top of the box actually opens out so you can take the game out. Unique to me anyway!!

8 - Most Unique Bonus Item : Yakuza 4 Kuro Edition: Ichiban Box

Again - Never seen anything like this as a bonus. Excellent Item!

9 - Best CE guide : Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim CE Guide

Massive guide , at 700 pages is a beast but is also a beauty to look at!

10 - Best CE system : Tales Of Xillia (PS3)

Visually Stunning - Very limited from what i am aware!

Jugolicious I do have admiration for uncharted but alot of good stuff from 2011 and some very good overall CE's

A list of games which were released in 2011 which had LE's or CE's would indeed be useful, if anyone feels competant enough to compile such a thing.

Trying to remember back to what was released this time last year is difficult, especially when half a dozen stand-out CE's seem to keep popping in my head (Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, Emily The Strange, Call Of Juarez, Dead Island, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Duke Nukem Forever etc) shadowing anything else


Do we have the ability to sort the CE.O database by year? If not, then that could possibly be a feature that we could implement in the future to make discussions like this easier to manage

well..i don't collect guides or unbox anything as a sealed collector, but i would see collectors edition of the year would be SONIC GENERATIONS and most likely to increase in value would be UNCHARTED 3 EXPLORER EDITION since it appears to truely have a limited run, and mass appeal, as opposed to Kingdoms of Amalur, even though the signature edition is strictly limited, it is a game that flies under the radar for now.

1 - Collectors edition of the year = Sonic generations CE - Also my favourite CE - had it all and quite limited too (UK version)

2 - Most Likely to appreciate in value = Uncharted 3 Explorer - again like others, this franchise has a huge base and this edition was very limited and of better quality than dead island treasure

3 - Best CE for a new franchise = Dead Island Treasure - The limited quantity of this edition makes it the best for a new franchise. Having said that, there weren't many new franchises this year anyway

4 - Best Box Art = Infamous 2 Hero (PAL version) - I really liked the two different coloured versions of cole and the reflective design - the US version was average tbh but the PAL version looked cool

5 - Best Bonus Item = Yakuza 4 Ichiban Box - With steelbooks becoming the norm for preordrs it was nice to see something different

6 - Best Unboxing Experience = Sonic Generations CE - Even though i knew what was in the CE, to see all the different parts and especially the unique lenticular cover was pretty nice

7 - Most Unique Package Design = Assassin Creed Revelations Animus - While not the best, definitely the most unique for me - it was intentionally bent - unique but weird

8 - Most Unique Bonus item = Yakuza 4 Ichiban Box - As before, very unique and very valuable now too

9 - Best CE Guide = Zelda Skyward Sword - I loved the colour

10 - Best CE system = Zelda: 25th anniversary 3DS - My biasness is showing here but i liked this because of the outer box design (PAL) as well as the console

P.S Mosavon - while i also liked the XIII-2 console - technically isnt that 2012?
