SwiftDeath's Collection: Steels, some CE's, and more steels...

Hi all,

My name is Daniel and I have a small problem with video game steelbooks.

Anyways, I've only recently started seriously collecting video game steelbooks as of summer 2011. My preference is for G2 steelbooks but I fell off the bandwagon a little and started collecting G1 as well. At first it was just PS3 and Xbox 360 G1's but I've got about a dozen PC and PS2 ones as well. My total steelbook collection is somewhere around 150 - 160 steels or so

One of the aspects of steelbook hunting that I like so much is the principle of region exclusivity. I like having something that was only released in some country on the other side of the world. The other main thing I find so addicting about steelbooks is how pretty they can be compared to other forms of special VG editions. For example, the newly released Futureshop exclusive Borderlands 2 steelbook is among my favorites. I feel it really captures the essence of the game.

A little more about me and VG's:

First VG that really hooked me was Ocarina of time. It had such depth to it and the open world was awesome. After that, it was GTA III which pretty much solidified the fact that I would be hooked on VG's for a long, long time. I also played more Pokemon as a kid than could possibly be healthy. To round it out, my older brother turned me on to Baldur's Gate when I was younger and if you've never played it, I highly recommend it as it still plays well today.

My Username:

Since I mentioned Baldur's Gate, I feel I should explain my user name a little as it originated as my characters name in Baldur's Gate. Lord SwiftDeath to be precise, incredibly corny I know but still satisfying to hear as you hack your way across the sword coast. The ironic thing was I had no idea the story behind the game when I created that name but it ended up fitting pretty well I think. It started as just a random name but now I feel it has two meanings. Originally, it just meant that the player was the bringer of death as was the character in BG. I mean you literally kill like 99% of all beings that you run into whether you're good/neutral/bad (and could kill most of the other 1% if you were so inclined). Now I feel it still means that but it also represents the fact that VG's can be very unforgiving. Just as you can swiftly bring death to those arrayed against you so can death be brought swiftly to your feet (In VG's of course...). Basically it was a small realization that came to me when I played BG, in the course of any battle/fight a single mistake could end up killing your entire party and this sentiment should be true in any well balanced VG, although recent VG's do seem to be far more forgiving.

Now that I've rambled on incoherently about myself for a while I just want to say that this website is awesome, especially in how worldwide it is. There are a lot of US VG collectors so it is always nice to see and talk to others around the globe.

Came with the nice numbered lithograph

Thanks to Strizay for letting me know Best buy price matches with amazon. Got it for $22

French AC Revelations Steel & European Prototype steel

These took 5 weeks to get to me because package was returned to sender

Seller was good about it though

Pre-order bonus art books for PoP: Warrior Within & AC

Can't believe I didn't already have that AC one yet, although it could just be buried somewhere in my house

And finally I bought an AC Brotherhood harlequin jack in the box off of ebay for $11 shipped, didn't expect to get all of the original packaging too

Of course I want all my AC editions in PS3 so I'm not sure what to do with this quite yet...
