Hi peeps.
Just letting you know about international order from Gamestop.

I received an email a Little while ago requesting that I fax a copy of my credit card statement to them.

Problems:
I don't have a fax machine.

Solution:

Fortunately, like many people I have a scanner, but am aware this still might not help some people without one!
I found this site, gotfreefax.com

Here you can upload a scan of your statement then send the fax to them with your gamestop order number as requested.

The format has to be .doc or .pdf which might be another issue.
Fortunately I have acrobat full version to convert jpeg to pdf.

When you select the document, add gamestops fax number as in your email, but lose the first two zero's so the number starts 177******
This is becuase it is sending the fax from within the States so no international dialling code necessary.
You will have to confirm you wish the email to be sent through an email, so don't make an email address up.
You will also receive a confirmation of delivery.
Hope this helps some of you.

Just so everyone knows, gamestop.us used (until recently, for sure) UPS for international orders.

So be careful what to expect for the extra custom fees, in some countries UPS charge huge amounts of handling fees (these are different from the standard custom fees).

I think it's ?13.50 in the UK? Anyone confirm this? Is customs the fee plus VAT?

I dont understand still how custom fees work, does the postal company do it? Or because the customs check your package? Because sometimes you get fees and sometime you dont.

Firsty, it depends on each countries' laws regarding the goods you import from third countries (not from the EU if you are already in EU for example).

Then, it's the postal company that delivers the goods.

Usually there is a minimum cost in what you import that you don't pay anything regardless the company (public mail or private company).

The problem is that when sth is imported via a company like UPS, DHL, FEDEX you have to pay not only the fees accepted by law (which are not that much) but also a handling fee, which is the overall proceeding of importing the item.

UPS for example, in many EU countries (apparently not in the UK if indeed they charge you only 13,5 GBP!) charge at least 50-70E only for the their carriers to clear the package in customs.

Of course you'll have to pay the rest of the custom fees by law as well.

Amazon.com has an AmazonGlobalProgram which you pay in advance all import fees (which are only what you should pay by law, nothing more) and you don't have to pay anything when the item reaches your destination.

the charge ups does in norway is below ?20, cant remember the exact amount atm. Although the one thing that bothers me with is that they always include the shipping when declaring something in customs. So an item below the limit automaticly exceeds the limit forcing you to pay their fee and VAT on the items

Yes in the UK, Parcelforce takes UPS parcels and charge ?13.50 handling plus 20% tax.

In the UK the vat on the delivery amount is included only if it has been sent express delivery.

Standard delivery does not incur vat above the item's vat amount.
