Try
Please pack this as if it was a raw egg
The outer packaging is far note important to me then the disc
Heck I don't care if you keep the disc as that can be replaced but this metal case thing, well it is incredibly hard for me to find it
I would like you to wrap this up as if it was going to do 12 rounds of pass the parcel at a 7 year olds birthday party, but instead of using wrapping paper, it is important you use bubble wrap instead
Oh and to be clear
I am happy to pay any extra for the materials and postage costs that are a result of packing the item as I have explained to you
Thanks

That is one of the best things I ever read here - that's exactly the note to hit - no one does it to annoy us they just don't get it - they have no interest in hassle either ..

Thanks Lowly - perfect!!

No worries (I learnt it at school {how to remove yourself from knowing something and they to explain how to do something to someone who does not have any understanding of anything} it comes off as patronising in most cases)
I now expect this to be the standard wrapping instructions for anyone giving there seller "Packing Instructions"

Thing is... You get an 80gbp dead island sticker book for 20 gbp because someone does not understand the value of it then, immediately after you've purchased it you expect some major brain transformation to take place so they suddenly understand they are no longer holding a worthless lump of metal but rather the holy grail you have sought for so long...

You gotta think that if steels and CE bits were universally accepted as having a high value no one would get a good deal ever...

It has got to be really specific - most sellers genuinely believe they have gone the extra mile for you... Most are not resellers who understand collectors and are trying to describe stuff very precisely they are average joes who just don't see items like we do. Don't give them a hard time... They really don't get it and why would they...

Give them very specific instructions and offer to pay the difference if it costs more... Most have only sold a handful of items and maybe all their others survived the journey in a piece of tissue...

I could understand that except for one key detail (in my dealings at least):

I always send a message before buying asking them to carefully look it over for any scratches/dents/dings/missing paint. I tell them that I am very, very fussy and I want them to please scrutinize it very carefully. I also tell them to wrap it in a generous amount of extra bubble wrap because they are very fragile and I don't want it getting damaged at all. There is NO excuse for them still royally mucking it up.

Even if I didn't do that, though. Regardless of understanding collectors or not, shouldn't it be common practice to send things in a way so that they don't get damaged? That just seems like basic level business. Like the people that send boxed games in a padded envelope. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the tiniest amount of pressure will result in major damage to the product. You don't have to understand the mentality of your buyer, but it is the seller's job to deliver the item in the same condition that it was sold in. That goes for items in any category.

You take my second paragraph and add it into my first paragraph about blatantly spelling it out for them, and there is less than no excuse for all the damaged products I am constantly receiving and having to deal with.

i suppose but I expect the valueless steels to be packaged carefully too

That 5 euro metal gear rising steel?

As a buyer I expect it to turn up not dented like mad

I do understand and agree that when you get great deals on something like that you can't expect a collectors packing mentality but again the whole listening thing is what bothers me and all that

Needs a few tweaks , like
If you have any questions as to how to do any of this then feel free to ask me BEFORE posting the item please
Or even why I am asking you to package this, in what seems like an over the top way of packaging then I can explian, my post man is an idiot and constantly drops mail or sits on it and this excessive amounts t of packaging is required in order that the items arrives undamaged

Or you could try the truth
The border forces employee sniffer dogs to sniff everything coming into the country I live in, and what they do is let the dogs walk all over the mail and scratch at all of it, some of these dogs weigh in excess of 30 KGs and the packaging needs to be able to withstand that weight on it and also offer enough protection that if the package is pieces by a claw that the contents do not come into contact with a claw
(That's how border agencies generally work to the vest of my knowledge)
