If I was to upgrade to 8 I would use unofficial programs to disable metro and add back the start button. MS compromised desktop usability to try and move the windows "ecosystem" closer together. They have since recanted on the start button and the auto-defaulting into metro on desktops. It was silly to compromise the usability of one platform just to make it closer to a tablet solution. Metro is awkward and clunky on a desktop. It makes sense for tablets and they'll never get it adopted by latop and desktop users in any important way.

Yeah it took me a goo 20 minutes to figure out how to get to all the things I need to get to. Once i got a "My Computer" shortcut onto my desktop I was golden from there.

Right-click in the bottom left corner gives access to quite a few things.

Not really that user-friendly.

My dear old mother loves Windows 8 for one reason: Microsoft Solitaire Collection and its daily challenges

Really the 2 things that irk me are then lack of the start button and the way is bundles tbs together. I actually hate the tabs thing more... when I open a new window in firefox and then click on the old window I have to got back down and hover over the firefox tb until the multiple ones pop up above it and re-select the other window. So. Dumb.

Also the part where there was no "My Computer" on my desktop originally... I mean WTH is with that? It is like the most important thing there (or the most important thing that is supposed to be there.

Yeah somehow they made their OS less user-friendly which is dumb. The actual OS underneath the GUI is great but I would have to heavily modify it for my use and do not see it worth the effort yet

I would just install windows 7 on it

No way there is any hardware in there that doesn't have drivers for W7

And if anyone considers installing Win7 for some reason (and they have the license):

This is the source: http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technol...download-links

Time to bitch a little about OS X. Apple, fix the finder so it doesn't missort things... A-Z in ascending order is not that hard. I also want an OLED-display in my iMac instead of this IPS with relatively bad blacks...

@Swift

I would advice against that. It's the closest she's come to being addicted to a game, ever.
