Yes my dear fellow, it is utterly disappointing. Shame on you, CD Projekt Red.

Having an Xbox One, I am (obviously) happy they did this. It's unfortunate for those who purchased the Playstation 4 because they're missing out, but lets be honest, Microsoft has way more money to just throw around for promotional things like this.
Video games are a huge part of the entertainment business and I can't think of any other sector that even comes close to generating the type of money that gaming does. My point is that it makes sense from a business perspective for any company to accept a bucket load of cash to add minor physical (or even digital, in some cases - like pre-order DLC) content for a specific version. Just look at the trend of video game making companies over the past few years that have gone under due to a lack of funds generated by their game.
I know it's easy to blame CD Projekt Red and say they "sold out" but have they really? They're not putting a new creature in the game called the "Microsoftus" that can only be slain using the silver "Playstationic Trap" or filling the game world with Coke or Pepsi billboards. They are a company that wants to keep making awesome games for us, and they need money to do it.

It's not that I disagree with a company making money, it's just that they have now instantly made every other version inferior (whilst not changing the price).

Let's not forget these are not cheap items.

All of a sudden ps4 and pc users are treated as second rate because microsoft threw money at the devs.

Don't forget witcher started on pc, and only came to xbox with witcher 2.

It's like a slap in the face of their most loyal fan base.

Would have been better if they added physical exclusives to each version, at least that way no one would feel inferior.

Although I'm sure that 3 versions of the collectors edition with unique items would drive some members a bit crazy

WTF....Microsoft is evil and shame on you CDPR.
Now both PC and PS4 CE have zero collector's value

I can agree with your perspective. It does definitely make the other CE's a little less in comparison (personally the cloth map is cool, but I never even open the card packs when they're included with the game)

Then again it's on a similar track as pre-order incentives that are different from each company you order from. Sure you could drive around to each store to pre-order just for the incentive, but then there are those special items only available in other countries and if you really want them you have to either buy the item outright from a website that delivers to your country or buy it from someone on eBay.

I think the additional content for the Withcer 3 CE should be available for the PC and for Xbox One as they are both Microsoft platforms - but I understand that Microsoft is throwing money at developers/publishers left, right and centre to promote the Xbox One since the abysmal initial E3 coverage when the system was first shown.

I mean, just look at the timed exclusivity of the newest Tomb Raider. I'm sure these things are only going to continue with Microsofts more aggressive strategy to promote their console.

They actually said on their forums way back when that they WEREN'T going to do this - that there was going to be one edition to rule them all.

Good for them. I'm glad to see Microsoft getting some different treatment finally - as someone who doesn't own a PS3/4 there's been a number of times that a game has gotten special treatment (or even unique release) on a Sony platform and been completely ignored on Microsoft's platform. I don't always hate it - but I've just come to the conclusion that some things I just won't get if I don't get a PS3/4. I might still whine a bit - but that's what the Internet is for isn't it?!

Not sure if I dislike a definitive difference like this more than the pre-order retailer exclusive bonuses though... they're both pretty bad IMHO.

Since I'm on the "winning" side of this one I guess it doesn't bother me as much, but I suppose if I wasn't, I'd be sad not to get the "bonuses". Not enough to freak out and say that CDPR were dirt-bags or anything - I'd just get the version I could and be sad MY version was missing something (or find those missing pieces on eBay and rule the day!!)

I'm happy they put a game in there though! That was the ONE thing (next to a Steelbook and statue) that I really wanted in the CE - a "dice poker" set, but since they're not playing dice poker in this one, this'll work!

So is it the cloth map that is exclusive aswell as the card game?

Ive just been back on their source site and they have taken down the comments at the bottom...must have not liked what people were saying! Truth hurts.
