Ok here's a list of emails and stuff with photos from the seller. What do YOU think ladies and gentlemen?

Fake? Legit? It kind of looks like separation from the bottom to me...
There are some pros/cons for me here, however the cons are outweighing the pros...*sigh*

What nintendo system if I may ask? I used to think it was easier to spot a reseal on Nintendo games, like NES/SNES/N64 especially (H-Seam/Y-Folds), HOWEVER...
I remember looking at some games at GameStop and they had USED games with some Y-Fold seals and everything. The crazy world of deceit and counterfeits we live in unfortunately...

Yeah this has been said but eBay is very good at protecting buyers (even bad ones). It is being a seller that gets risky.

It's tough Texas - I'm still leaning towards this is completely legitimate. It'd take a LOT of precise work to make sure that you cut only the glue without damaging the plastic or artwork, and then the mod to the figure itself would take some additional time and would arguably be noticeable unless it was a real pro. The bottom of the box looks almost exactly like 3 out of the 4 or so that I've looked at recently. The bottom "seal" isn't exactly glued like the other sides (at least on several of mine), you can put toothpicks/etc. through the perforations and there's not really any glue on that part (IIRC).

At the end of the day, its your call - but if it turns out to be fake somehow, you should have no problem getting your money back I'd assume. If you pay with paypal and use a visa/mc even if its a debit (instead of bank account #) you can also just file the claim with them if eBay for some reason or another wouldn't work out.

Either way, let us know if you win it. If this one sells for a ton though, I wonder if we'll see some copycats actually trying to forge these and sell them?

After seeing those pics, TF...my opinion is this one's real. Look at that one that shows both sides, no glare. No glare, no creases, no nothing. I agree with Knight. When word gets out that this kind of thing is worth 1k+ and is possible to counterfeit, it's going to get a lot murkier. Your seller's story and photos seem legit to me. See if you can get it with an original receipt.

Still, that price is ridiculous. Buy it and at the very least you'll have to live down the reputation of an eccentric.

Edit: The bottom seal of my amiibo is not 100% intact either. It's safe to assume some seal separation is normal.

You've got to be kidding me??!?!? That mom (or her son) are probably the happiest people on the planet right now -- what a find eh? Just turned ~$12 into $2,500 in under a month?

Edit: Also, imagine if the highest bidder was someone who actually had ALL the other prototype errors of this piece and was just trying to set a ridiculously high bid price so that he/she could sell all his remaining "errors" slowly into the wild??

yeeah, we've all been there...the cruel mistress that is ebay.

on the bright side, we got a damn hilarious video out of it. I've been forwarding this thing to friends and colleagues all day.

edit:

hey, might be your second chance...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amiibo-with-.../131367530035?

...just ignore the fact that the seller stole the previous listing's photos and is most likely a BS listing.
