I can't believe what just happened

I found a brand new GTA V CE from a local online store for only $130 which is very cheap. The only problem is that I don't know if it's still sealed or not. Brand new =/= sealed. Therefore, I decided to ask for pictures of the CE. I received an email and he asked me if I want to see the contents. Right after he asked that, I instantly thought it's already been opened and just that the contents are still brand new. So I said yes. And he showed me the pictures of the contents. Then I told him that I've no interest anymore cause it's already been opened from the outside box. He replied instantly and said, "I thought you asked to see the contents". I was like "Yes, cause I thought it's already been opened in the first place." So then basically he told me that it was still sealed but he opened it when I want to see the contents. So there you go, been searching for a sealed version of this CE for a while and I still can't believe this shit just happened. So, should I still go for it? This is really out of my comfort zone as I only collect sealed stuff.

if the pics looked all minty..and the price is $130...then if you are not the resell type..just have it resealed locally...why pay $250 plus for cellophane?

I'm not sure about reselling my collection but you'll never know. I'm not sure if resealing would make the value stay the same. I guess you have a point, why should I pay more for cellophane or in this case, a round tape? Fyi, all GTA V CE aren't sealed with cellophane, they're only sealed with the round tape/sticker.

These are the pictures he sent to me. As you can see, everything is still brand new and the contents are all sealed including the steelbook. Except for the "round tape/sticker".

Why would anyone pay for sealed anymore?

I've been collecting statues for years. That's my thing.
Sealed is meaningless. In fact it's usually an opportunity to be ripped off. If it's sealed and I'm paying an after market price I have no idea if all the contents are in tact (e.g. physical collectibles like figures, statues, prop replicas).

The seller also has no idea, or if clever enough can just con you.
But since the seller listed it as sealed they no longer have any obligations for the state of the contents.

If I'm buying after market I also ask for pictures of everything, including contents.

I think sealed makes sense of see through boxes like Star Wars figures....but opaque boxes? Not so sure about that.

But I come from the world of statue collecting so maybe I'm totally off base here.

Regardless, if the seller is bullsh1tting about it being sealed or not don't deal with them. If they are already sounding shifty, walk away. That seler already lost my trust.
I had a similar situation with TLOU Post Pandemic Edition. I really, REALLY want it. But, when I asked for pictures, the seller sent me pictures of his own version, then said he couldn't take pictures because it was sealed....but it was listed as unsealed and used (the game anyway).
I just felt uncomfortable and moved on.

But then, why should I know if all the contents are in tact or not? Because even if there were some broken contents, it's not like I could know as my collection is meant to be sealed.

Also, there are so many collector's editions available yesterday, today and tomorrow that you wish you could collect. But money is always the problem. So when I have sealed collections, I could sell each one of them at a huge price (more than their initial prices) and use that money to buy even more collector's editions. So I pretty much doubled/tripled my money to buy even more stuff without having to hurt my wallet.

Well, it was your fault for assuming things instead of asking the guy first if the edition was sealed. I would feel kinda bad if I was in your placed and wanted a sealed one. Now that you've made the guy open it, you should buy it. The price if good and if everything is mint there's no reason not to buy it. It's not like this edition was sealed with a cellophane anyway, and it's still brand new. Nothing to lose by getting it.
