:/ PC is not a free platform. It's a Microsoft platform too. You have to pay to develop with directx because it is Microsoft technologies.

That is why AMD is trying to break the monopoly by introducing Vulcan which is free.

I am sorry, but that is not true. You don't have to pay to develop with DirectX.
The Vulkan API is being developed mainly because of the DirectX flaws and to prevent MS monopoly by using only their OS. With Vulkan you can play the games on other OS too

You are right my mistake there. I remembered reading somewhere long ago when Vulcan was coming that I was to break directx monopoly for various reasons.

But still it is not really cheaper because it is a free platform though.
