Edward cost less because it was made in USA and I got it for $250-ish but Edward is not quite on par with the Purearts Connor Premium or Ezio's Fury or Attakus quality which are real gems worth $1,000+ on open market these days.

So would I have paid $800 for Legendary Bayak even before meeting him in the game? Yup I would but too bad for my timing that now I am iced out of the preorders. Oh well. Anyone in NA have buyer's remourse about the price tag on their preorder of Legendary, let me know and I'll relieve it for you!

Cheers to ALL!

Change "would have" to did. Anyone else like me crazy enough to spend this much (better than the $2-$3k people are listing these for on eBay already) and get the premium statue, UBI put a few units back up on the Uplay store today at least for the USA webpage. There are 2 PS4 units left and some PC units, but the XBOX is still showing sold out.

Hope this heads up helps someone else out.

JC

I am curious whether anyone else on the forum from the USA ordered the Legendary Edition? I originally bought Dawn of Creed edition this past weekend when legendary was sold out (I was on hiking trip past two weeks and missed original release). I had been watching the UBI site this week and yesterday a few additional legendary units popped up as available to US UBI customers (see my previous heads up post yesterday).

Anyway because I collect the premium statues whenever I can get or afford them, I did buy the legendary edition and was pleased I avoided the insane premiums that Ebay people are trying to charge. Although my price was $799, I noticed there was a 10% tax imposed on the legendary edition that was not imposed on the Dawn Edition I had ordered just a few days before from the same site with the same purchase and delivery information. I am not sure why the Legendary Edition is subject to this "VAT or Value added Tax" and not the Dawn edition (is it a price threshold on imports that triggers it?) I do have sales tax in my State for local purchases but again why would UBI charge it for one and not the other? I doubt they would collect my local sales tax all the way from Montreal.

Did anyone else have the 10% tax put on their legendary order (or any other edition?)

Thanks JC

Yeah, that's weird. Customs/duty fees are usually collected at the door from the customer during delivery. Maybe Ubi is just charging it in advance so you won't have to pay it afterwards.

I've bought some steelbooks from Amazon.Uk and Amazon.de recently, and do have to pay an import fee deposit that is added to the order total. So maybe this is similar.

Either way, at least you're only paying 10% lol. We have to pay 13% on any purchase from the ubisoft store, big or small.

Again... At least I'm not held hostage on eBay by those wanting to double or triple their money (sickening) so I'm very happy with that. RE 13% that's the "sales tax" you guys in Canada pay on everything?

BTW I have a theory that this Legendary Bayek Statue is done by Pure Arts who did the Connor Premium statue. I emailed my contact there who declined to comment as UBI being their customer he is not at liberty to answer. But the scale, construction and art from what I can see in the YouTube unboxings remind me very much of my Connor Purearts Premium.

Yeah, sales tax exists throughout Canada, but the rate differs province to province. Ontario (where I'm from) has a 13% tax rate on all products.

I definitely agree that it's done by pure arts. The style looks very similar to Connor the last breath. I see a strong resemblance to the Edward Kenway black chest edition statue as well...

Plus, if it was a specialty manufacturer (triforce etc), I'm sure Ubi would've advertised it on the pre-order since that might be considered an extra selling point for some collectors.

Speaking of which, I am still waiting (two years after placing preorder) for Jacob to arrive.

Yes, read above in thread. The $800 is for a massive premium Bayek/Senu statue on par with the Connor Pure Arts Premium statue of similar cost and value. Anyone collecting these premium statues would consider paying that. I did for that reason and count myself fortunate I secured one of the 200 US units from UBI direct vs. being forced to deal with the Ebay people looking to turn them for double or triple that much (now that in my opinion is friggin crazy).

Cheers - JC

Can't argue with that... glad you got one! But yeah for someone who makes as little as I do I cannot spend $800 on anything unless I can drive it or it helps me make money (like my laptop)
