Re: Sealed or not sealed - That's the question
Many LE's and CE's are just too nice to open! I have friends who've opened their CE's in the past, and looking back at the condition they're in now makes me want to cry! Many are missing components, whilst others are worn and dog-earred... Tragic
SteelBook's especially, where they are prone to scratches and dents. I hate seeing these things gutted on store shelves, and it's not as if retailers care about the items they sell (CEX in particular) It's much better to keep these things sealed and admire them from the outside, whilst knowing what the contents look like via sites like this. Some CE's are so well-made quality pieces that you can see and feel this from just holding it (PAL Far Cry 2 CE, for example), whilst others look and feel cheap and nasty (PAL Transformers for X360) |

Re: Sealed or not sealed - That's the question
Normally I buy a Collectors edition to keep it sealed, and the normal version to play with.

Quick q, for cross-platform games, I've noticed usually PS3 tends to sell out quicker and also hold its value the most in terms of collector editions.. Which console do you guys usually choose?

PS3 is region free and you don't need to swap disc. I prefer PS3 game unless there is a PC collector edition.

Re: Sealed or not sealed - That's the question
I break the seal on all my CEs but that's mostly so I can take pictures for you people :-P
I'll put the game disc in a plain DVD case and then set the box on a display shelf so that it doesn't get ruined. sometimes if the CE has a normal game case in a larger box, I'll just pull the game disc out of the case. |

Re: Sealed or not sealed - That's the question
PC don't hold as much value as they used to because of the DRM incorporate into the game like Steam. So once you use it, you can't sell it. However I prefer PC because of it ability to mod and gives you the best graphic output. Also mod gives you tons of replay value which console can't give you.

Re: Sealed or not sealed - That's the question
I have a binder I keep all my discs in. I throw away the case and manuals. (except steelbooks or special editions)
A 20 dollar scratched disc loss every five years is an okay trade-off in my book for the space it saves me. (I've yet to have one damaged, knock on wood). |
