Re: Driver San Francisco
So who's price do you go by?
If GAME is selling it for 99 and Play is selling it for 109 and Zavvi is selling it for 95 and the publisher's official store is selling at the RRP of 120? The point of including RRP is to determine how much a title has appreciated or depreciated from where the publisher initially valued the product. honestly if it's selling at a discount on day 1 that's a perfect example of why RRP should be in the database. Really RRP is the only "official" value a CE release will ever have, no matter how ridiculous it might seem, so to me that makes it an important data point to capture. I actually started writing a tool a while back that would automatically go out and fetch prices from retailers and track the average value of a game over time, and give people links to where they could find it cheapest but I've been distracted with all kinds of other feature requests particularly stuff like adding more consoles/portables/press kits to the database which has multiplied my back log of games that need to be added to the DB (and of course spending time to chip away at the back log of game updates) that it's been put pretty far on the back burner Last edited by twistedsymphony; 05-20-2011 at 10:15 PM. |
