Actually, the console versions of the Animus Edition were $128 to be exact and the PC version were $108 on pre-order and day of release last year. So, without any discounts of any sort, you would have had to pay $128 for a console version when the Animus was released. You must've missed out but the console versions were on sale for $99 just weeks ago.
Of course I'd get stung for purchasing on day one, but as a collector, that's the risk I take if I don't want to miss out...if it really was limited in quantity and not available after release. That often does happen [here], but then again some CE's pop up out of nowhere on sale a year or so after release.
Anyway, I'm sure EB also said that the Animus Edition very
limited in numbers before release
