List Of PS4 Limited Edition Consoles

Thank you for the response and please forgive my oversight. I am not talking about the limited trial period where devices and sales had to occur in the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) of Shanghai, PRC. PlayStation began selling in the FTZ in March of 2015.

Current these systems are only PSN Locked, making a PS4 and PS-Vita manufactured in China and sold legally (not an illegal import) only able to connect to China's PSN service. Updates are able to arrive from foreign servers but owners of China PS4 and PS-Vita are limited in just PSN access today.

This does not restrict systems sold outside China. As of today, Chinese and other PS systems are able to connect to China PSN and create a China PSN account.

Yet things are about to be different. A recent NYT article discussed the end of China's 13 year ban on Video Games is being ended. This is also changing the restrictions China places Video Game and Consoles released in mainland China. The NYT article I mention is just a couple days old. It does state Region Locks are being required on all Video Game System & Games.

I have only witnessed the restriction on FTZ PS4 devices being forced to connect with the China PSN. While a PS4 outside of China is able to create the PSN account on China PSN.

I hope once all is said and done, Sony does not add any restrictions on there systems, servers nor games.

Concerning DLC restrictions, please help me clear anything I don't understand.

Retail Games include a code which restricts the DLC that works with the game. This also limits where the updates are downloaded. Codes could include multiple regions and multiple codes maybe on a release. The code(s) define the PSN servers that are valid.

e.g. A game imported to North America from HK and the code allows HK and TL access:
1) DLC must be downloaded from either an HK or TL PSN account to work with the game.
2) Updates and patches are avaliable when available in either HK or TL.
3) DLC from other areas do not work with the game
4) Updates released outside HK and TL do not work with the game.

The game publisher defines the code for each game. An imported game could use the local PSN for updates and DLC if the game includes the code for that PSN.

Forgot to clarify that each game release is unique. This means a game released in a region more than once may not include the same codes.

Do you think this will be the original PS4 innards or using the reduced hear innards being released as areas run out of the original design.

Sony is doing a small revamp of the PS4 hardware, part of which uses less power and produces less heat.

Ahhh... did not know that. Not sure it matters all that much, it would depend on when it is being produced and if the new specs are in effect already or not.

The PS4 was already pretty efficient from what i read (a good deal more then even the later PS3's if I remember correctly). Though games are making it work hard and it does get hot, so any reduction would be good (though I bet it would not be noticeable).

If anything needed a re-vap it is the PS4 controller/LED/Battery.
