I got it for 15 Euro, but that doesn't mean they are not rare or they won't be rare in a few months because I think they were only available on gamesonly.at like the Far Cry 4 steelbook.

Nowadays I would say yes because it was only available in germany at saturn stores or on saturn.de.

Not sure i would call them "rare".
There are always a few of them around on ebay

A few? I haven't seen them so often on ebay, especially the Far Cry 4 steelbook was sold out after a few days after release on gamesonly.at.

The Dying Light wasn't sold out that fast on gamesonly.at, that is maybe the reason it seems to be not that rare at the moment.

Wanted to grab the Final Fantasy "A Realm Reborn" Steelbook yesterday. (Excellent condition) Set my limit to 175€... didn't even bother bidding. Went away für 240€. (My feeling are still hurt though )
Dunno if that qualifies.

Gonna get it one day, but can't afford it right now. With FF7 Statues in the works, I have my budged laid out.

The steelbooks for Saint Seiya are pretty rare too. There was one that only released in France and one that was exclusive to China.

Lots of the steelbook mentioned here are valuable but not rare, you can buy them.
Really rare are: G2 Homefront stickerbook Belgium and RE6 Thailand
G1 the Finnland and Saudi Arabia Steelbooks
And in future I think the Limited run steelbooks will become more expensive.

what is your definition of rare?

You can only buy all those steelbooks on ebay if those steelbooks are offered by someone which happens not that often.
