I just placed and order and I haven't been charged for it, I haven't even heard of any changes to their policy towards pre-orders and payments for it. As far as I know, of all the years I've been shopping there, they only take payment upon despatch for your pre-orders, unless that particular order contains items that are readily in-stock, then they just take money for what can/will be shipped shortly. Btw, amazon did not have the Loot Chest available for preorder until this week, Australia was the very first to take preorders a few days after announcement and none of the US had offered it yet, I've been checking on a daily routine ![]() |

Ah, I thought Amazon took payment first. Either way, I'd rather pick it up in person rather than risk shipment damage on a large item like this. That's odd that you say that though, because it was 4 days or so ago that I looked at the Amazon preorder page for Borderlands 2 and it was active.
GameStop does take $25, yeah. I preordered today. |

If we are talking amazon and gamestop only here, the best source to get your games, where they will least likely be damaged is from gamestop.com (delivered NOT local store pickup). I say this from personal experience of which I have a lot of. Just never forget that even though your picking up an item in a store, that item had to go through several shipping experiences already which means it's just as likely to have been damaged, if not more so because the empoyees are usually NOT collectors themselves, just gamers. The only real benefit to picking up in store is you get the item faster than delivery. That's it.

Well, I usually find that the first batch of collector's editions you'll send in a store are in really good shape. When things are shipped from the manufacturer in bigger batches they know how to package stuff right, because if they send their stuff out damaged they're not going to make any money of it.
When something is sent individually to the customer... that's when I see corners cut on shipping. I'd rather see the item in person before paying for it; and I'm not afraid to ask for one in better shape if I don't like what I see. To each his own though. ![]() |

I think for what you desire (with in store) it strictly depends on location, size of store and quality of staff. If you got a great gamestop near you then awesome! My local gamestops are small and the employees don't care about handling their merchandise carefully for collectors.

Really? That was quick. I wonder if they will do a late release of "found" stock closer to the release date?
