You're absolutely right though - I think this gen, companies have really realized that they can make a killing on the "collector" community and are taking advantage (wherever and however possible) of that fact. Between the $250 Titanfall Collectors edition (set president for this gen CEs I think), the "exclusivity wars" with these CEs we see now, the crazy "limited LIMITED edition" guide craze with Prima, and more, I think word is out that there's money to be had on our backs... like I saw another poster post here recently though, I think it'll hit a hard wall when collector's start being more selective in what they get due to high supply and low bank accounts.

But yeah, I anticipate us seeing a lot more of this "platform exclusive" content (physical or otherwise) as Microsoft attempts to swing more people over to their side.

I'm not sure how that's very relevant here. If fans of that series were fine with it, then there wouldn't be any/many complaints. It appears as if Witcher fans are a little more passionate about it.

Sry if I missed the point but for me the discussion is not about the game itself. They didn't cut the game in "half" and made exclusive DLC that's only available on Xbox platform. Everyone is still getting the same game no matter which platform they'll choose to support. In the end it should be the game that matters. If I like a game I'll buy the CE and a standard copy to play. No matter if it is missing some plastic cards or not. But maybe I'm just not as passionate as you.

Everyone is still getting the same game no matter which platform they'll choose to support.

In the end it should be the game that matters.

The game does matter, and this has nothing to do with the game itself, nor is anyone complaining about the game. Again, why are you bringing up all these irrelevant points? Nobody contested any of this.

I understand these companies have a business to run, but all to often it's at the expense of the consumer.

Look at what's happening to Tomb Raider. MS is having the game delayed on other platforms to help push XBone sales.

Will it help line their pockets? Possibly. But I don't find it beneficial to the industry as a whole. And I feel that way whether MS does it, Sony does it, or Nintendo does it.

AT the end of the day money talks, and the money is saying "give our company more money by sacrificing the consumers experience." If MS wants to have incentives for purchasing the game on their console, then do it independently from the studio themselves. What I mean is add things in addition but separately from the CE.

This announcement is worse because it follows on the heels of the Tomb Raider announced delay.

The point is that I don't agree with the way MS does their business. Much like I was pissed that EA bought the rights to the NFL.

I choose to not support this decision even if others don't care. I don't expect everyone to agree.

What I should have said was I don't agree with ANYBODY who does this kind of business as I'm aware MS isn't the only one to blame. (But they do seem to be at the forefront of this practice.)

From looking at the game it looks like a masterpiece. This will be the first one I play and I must say I was disappointed in the CE changes to the Xbox1 version. Lets see what happens.

Yes Ayiu I fully understand you but this page is for collectors edition and now both PC and PS4 W3 Editions are "downgraded". I preorderd the PS4 version for full price to have the highest edition because I am a huge Witcher fan. If they announced the exclusive content for XBOX 1 two months ago then it's ok for me. But now? And all versions are already sould out....

I agree that the timing was bad and I really understand you that the way how they approached this whole thing was not okay. Especially for their loyal PC fan base. But canceling the game just because of this is a little bit too much me thinks. Also every collector is different not everyone collects everything and I'm pretty sure people wouldn't be so "passionate" about it if was for PC.
