Just gotta say, it takes a grand total of 5 minutes to refund someone their money (I have done so many times). Dispute or no dispute, as soon as it was said that the item was not available, the money should have been refunded right then and there at that moment with no issues.

The only way that wouldn't work is if the account was drained to absolutely no money after receiving payment, in which case you would have to transfer the refund from your bank account. Even then, that takes about 5 days on average, so the buyer would have had the money in under a week from the point it was realized that the item was unavailable.

And even after a complaint was filed (after a week of waiting for a refund that should have come immediately), a negative balance only occurs when the complaint is awarded to the buyer, in which case the buyer receives the refund regardless of the money in the seller's account. As in, the buyer gets his money refunded, and if the seller's account was at zero, the money is still taken by PayPal and your account goes into the negative as a result.

^Agreed when involved in a transaction you should check your PM atleast every other day if not daily.
