This boxed kit was provided by Sony before retail adapters were available in stores. They were part of a Sony Beta Trial to test PS2 online games before they first came to mkt.
The box is stamped Beta Test, the Socom game which came with it is online trial only and the network access disc is stamped beta test..... I doubt you ever were able to get this same version retail. Its a decade old and still originally packaged - it's not unreasonable to say rare.
