I used to think like that but then I started getting impatient and realized why would I buy to sell . . Im not that well off to buy w/e to sell and I want to enjoy it. . So I unbox everything now. . Well almost everything. For the most part I just take out the game and dlc and leave everything else untouched

Think of it as an investment.

Whatever you buy is worth money.

I have a lot of stuff sealed. I'm not necessarily a sealed collector, but what has happened is we go through these periods with rapid fire release schedules, and I don't bother to open games until I'm ready to play them. Since I have limited time to play I don't get to them all in a timely manner. The problem I have is that now some of them are worth significant money in sealed condition. If I open them, I'd be ripping off cellophane that's worth a hundred dollars or more in some cases. It creates a dilemma.

I only find it to be reasonable if the individual is planning on selling their items/collection. If they are, then there is an actual reason. If they're not, though, then I find it to be one of the most asinine things that a person can do. I'll actually be making a video to discuss this at some point because it's worth talking about.

I collect sealed and mint..not so I can "resell"..but because I like the feeling that the item is 'brand new" each time I look at it.
