Why Collect Sealed Games? - Page 2

Think of it as an investment.

Whatever you buy is worth money.

I have a lot of stuff sealed. I'm not necessarily a sealed collector, but what has happened is we go through these periods with rapid fire release schedules, and I don't bother to open games until I'm ready to play them. Since I have limited time to play I don't get to them all in a timely manner. The problem I have is that now some of them are worth significant money in sealed condition. If I open them, I'd be ripping off cellophane that's worth a hundred dollars or more in some cases. It creates a dilemma.

I only find it to be reasonable if the individual is planning on selling their items/collection. If they are, then there is an actual reason. If they're not, though, then I find it to be one of the most asinine things that a person can do. I'll actually be making a video to discuss this at some point because it's worth talking about.

Before I get a sealed CE (happens to me once a year or so

) I say to myself to not open it...no luck.

I collect sealed and mint..not so I can "resell"..but because I like the feeling that the item is 'brand new" each time I look at it.

Same here. I tried to keep my collection sealed not as an investment but to keep them in mint condition.

Various reasons to collect sealed. Personally I've done it for money/investment and it's become sort of a game to see if you can obtain the next $200+ jackpot. Look at how for example Bravely Default's price blow up. Sealed copies of that will only continue to go up as copies become scant after release (Hint: everyone go look for a mint copy quick, pretty sure with the soft box that gets easily damaged in mail, you'll have a harder time finding one in immaculate condition).
