Been "collecting" since I was in my teens. Never got rid of any games or anything. Some people keep their books and novels, I keep my games library.

The whole limited edition thing most started when I imported a few games (FF, SF) and noticed there were special versions available. Since then I get whatever I can afford/is nice/fits in. I don't get anything and everything because I find that a bit silly considering I've got other things to worry about, but if it's Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Tekken, DMC, ZOE... etc related then yeah, I'll try and get it if budget, space and sanity allows.

To be honest nowadays it's far easier getting a hold of something simply because people have become more aware (deliberately to resell or no) to maintain the condition of the item. Items from years ago are a bit harder due to the lower print runs and much niche market at the time.

I didnt even consider collecting videog ames till after finding this site.

I think back over the years to all the games ive either given back to gamestop in trade or sold for way under value cause i didnt know any better and I kick myself LOL. Ive prolly traded in 150 games over the last 6-8 years. Just recently I started to stop that as I found out one sometimes I want to go back to play the game and two gamestop/ebay is hard to get your full value unless its a wanted item, collectors edition or overall rareness.

So when I came here I started just collecting steelbooks I had 3 when I came here I th ink im up to about 11 now with some coming from trades on this site.

Now the one thing I did keep over the years evne if i traded teh game any collectors editions stuff I hung onto. I.E. Drake Statue, Art books etc.

I also then decided to buy a bunch of gears of war stuff and build my gears of war collection same with assassins creed.

Now that Ive done that though I find myself wanting to collect the actual games. ive been hitting up gamestops 1 a week now for about 3 weeks picking up as many 4-15 dollar xbox 360 games as possible spending about 60 a week to build my normal game collection back up.

I know when Gears of War Judgement comes out ill go back to collecting more gears stuff.

Anyhow Good luck this place is awesome.

I've had few failed attempts at collecting. Can never quite decide where to limit my collection. Think people have it spot on when they say I just like buying new things.

Would love to go back and collect all the Uncharted and Assassin's Creed CE's but the cost is just too prohibitive. I'm bit of a completionest as well, so not keen beginning half way through a franchise. Probably need to wait for next-gen console and start a fresh. Brought a Vita but not much to collect on it.

Few rules I will have once I collect is that I have to be able to buy it from UK store/website, and that's it actually a game I want to play.

Agree with you on the cost. I want some of the older Mass Effect stuff but not at the price its going to cost. Best to just get "newer" items that are more cost reasonable.

I'm exactly the same as you.
