i think we want to believe really hard that explorer edition was very limited..when actually it was widely available for preorders all over PAL territories..and when i preordered mine from amazon germany..it was available for preorder for over 2 months before release..the deal with fortune hunter was it was a promo piece deal cut with subway sandwhich shop..i think subway paid for most of them anyways..i think the reason this last of us edition is not sold in stores anymore because it is such a huge box, and stores have limited stock space and delivery trucks have limited space and it probably weighs a lot more costing more in truck delivery fees and the price is not friendly..so gamestop probably restricted it in stores..if stores ordered let's say 100 preorders per store..where are they going to store them?...plus online order means huge warehouse storage for delivery plus with such a high price..almost the price of a game console..there won't be many takers..thats why it's "online only" i doubt it's strictly limited..i know some die hard naughtydog fans are really passionate and they want to believe game studios and sony are concerned and care about us to an extent they will forego making money and profit just to satisfy our inner fan boy and fan girl wishes..but reality is naughtydog is operated by sony..sony can do whatever the heck it wants..gamestop wants to make money..just don't have the space in stores..remember preorders are just $5 down or whatever..customers can back out on the last minute after delivery..now you got a store with this huge edition blocking storage space..versus online order you can leave it in a huge warehouse and they will charge your card full amount just before it's shipped..

naughtydog don't give a crap about us..they just need to line there pockets..there not making anything special..there just telling some plant in china to ramp up the orders..this thing is selling faster then we anticipated..gamestop said..well..we don't got room for such big boxes in stores..let's just distribute directly from the warehouse and sell on-line.

I have to agree with Twisted's theory. Profit will always, ALWAYS be the first priority for game companies and publishers. No way they forego a chance to make tons of money just to make us collectors happy.

Theory vs confirmation from ND... This whole thread's starting to annoy me.

i really do hope it's limited..that would be fantastic..but after being on-line for sale for soo many days now..i think at least 1 week so far?..and gamestop usa ships worldwide..if it were so limited why still available for sale?...if let's say there are 800..and let's say a whopping 50% orders were cancelled for various reasons (hard to believe) so now let's say 400 available..so your telling me gamestop cannot sell 400 units worldwide after being on-line for one full week?..

This is why it wouldn't sell out that quickly (I'm comparing to dead space 3 as it's the most recent limited edition of a low number). -Dead Space 3 took a few weeks I think (5000- multiplatform) -Max 3 per order compared to 10 I think -It's edition size isn't officially announced alot of people are cynical *cough cough* and as such aren't ordering it So expecting an exclusive to sell out in a week with a 3 per order limit and no official edition size is alot to ask. |

why is the confirmation soo secret?..they should put it in a press release..since it is being claimed there is a final absolute number..let's hear it then.

Because I don't want to be out of favour with ND. I assume they have their reasons for it i.e to prevent scalpers

But the scalpers are already there, and will always be.
