It's a great game! Yes it cuts the action a little too frequently so gameplay sections aren't long enough for my liking (compared to say clearing areas in uncharted) but really enjoying it so far and immense visually.

Totally agree about an expansion / continuation...

Here's the review from Digital Trends, they give the game a 20, Dying Light 60, and Sunset Overdrive 100...

Quote:
The Order: 1886 is a terrible game. Not because it’s broken or made without skill. Certainly not because it’s an average-length, story-driven shooter with minimal replay value. It’s just a bad game, forgettable in every conceivable way and safely ignored by all but the most ardent Trophy hunters.

Completely agree. The criticism by reviewers is justified but not proportionate in my opinion. I like it a lot.

It almost like throwing a lore heavy game, Uncharted gameplay, and Heavy Rain adventure game gameplay all into one game.

I have to say my biggest complaint with the CE is the "behind the scenes" video. It's a joke, it's like a four minute long video of a few members of the team talking about it...I feel like I'd already seen that stuff via pre-release interviews. Was really hoping for like the equivalent of like a behind the scenes DVD or something but whatever. The statue made it worth it.

Back on the game though, yeah I really hope all the negative reviews don't hurt Ready at Dawn too bad. The game's definitely getting way more shit than it deserves, considering it's a pretty awesome game. I know I said it already but I really hope to see more from the universe they set up, whether it be expansions or a sequel. I loved Grayson as a character so hope to see more from him as well.

Flatout, after watching your video again I have a feeling someone either opened and resealed my copy at Best Buy, or Sony just did a really terrible job with manufacturing this. My fence piece was quite a bit worse than yours, but like I said I fixed it myself for now. Still kinda silly that they come like that. Additionally I noticed some dings and chips in the steelbook. When I open it it only seems to open from the left side, the right seems to almost stick to the middle fold which is kinda weird. Loving the game but my CE is totally botched up

Lol... I did not even look at the vid. Sometimes they are cool and sometimes they are crappy (but never something I would think it worth while in a CE).

Return it for a full refund and buy one form Amazon

i rather pay 150 dollar in a game where the developers put there heart and soul into it and have the length of only one hour then to pay 1 dollar for all the games of call of duty and battlefield and halo and killzone and fifa and assassins creed combined!
the stupid xbots gaming community and the iPad gamers they both cant understand what quality means and are only interested in quantity, big environments, long dull gaming hours, repeated online play and a huge game but empty just like there minds!

What I hate is seeing someone skip the cut scenes when they just got the game just to get on with it. I'm sorry but when someone comes to play a game in my house you're going to listen to the story unless you already saw it because many people have put their hard work into making this game and it's just plain rude to skip it. Sure I've had some games where I didn't want to hear a voice actor because they didn't sound right but I wanted to know the story in it's entirety and admire the work put into the character or what could have been change to improve upon them. Every game is beautiful if played right I just wish now a days they took more time on them like you said "where the developers put there heart and soul into it" then to be pressed my a time limit of it being a year by year released game.

I was laughing about that yesterday as well. I thought to myself "Surely this 4 minute video is just the first clip of the behind-the-scenes feature", nope, it's the whole thing.

They could have at least included all the behind-the-scenes and making-of features from the Playstation YouTube channel on there. That would've been pretty nice, despite already having seen them all. This 4 minute install is just a joke.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Couldn't put the game down yesterday after it was delivered. Played it on and off all day around my regular responsibilities and finally put it down at Chapter 11. I'm playing through on hard, and some parts are frustrating, but generally it's challenging and rewarding with how fun the weapons are to use. I'm going to finish playing it today, then add up my stream times from http://www.twitch.tv/brandon_storm/ to figure out exactly how much time I put into it.

I love this time period and the world is so well realized that I feel like if I ever got bored of the gameplay or story I could just go sightseeing. Great design.

I'll pop back in here with my (mostly) unbiased review once I'm done. But so far, so good.
