That's true. As a collector myself, I understand the risks when purchasing Promotional items or "development team gifts". While it is unfortunate that some collectors will have paid more for theirs on the secondary market, those pieces were not meant to be sold at retail. These statues were always meant to be sold as part of a collectibles program, which took a considerable amount of time to develop and get approved by SCEA management. We were testing the QC of a new factory so we made that small limited run (I believe it was 50 or less) to be given away as an award at a GameStop event. They were never meant to be officially sold to the public. I knew there was a chance a few of them would be sold but that's just a part of making these types if items and I was not in a position to announce anything about the ND store, so putting a "don't buy these on ebay at exorbitant prices" warning was not an option. The markings on these statues will be different than that first 50 sample units though.

I have made a considerable amount of PR items and collectibles over the past few years and while I may occasionally re-purpose one of those projects because of fan demand, you can rest assured that the majority of these items will be newly developed. They will be numbered, and while we will make a small amount of samples for internal distribution (which will be marked as " samples" and not be part of the amount sold to the public), we will not be manufacturing over that numbered amount.

Thanks,
Gary

Thank you for your words Gary, appreciate it!!

Totally see things clearer now and it's all understandable of course. Cool that markings will be different for those that took that risk.

Look forward to all the newly developed goodies!! Thank you sir

I wonder, are there any The Last of Us - American Dreams Hardcover Editions left to be distributed via the store?

Can't wait for it to open!

They have American Dreams listed under the "books" section but it doesn't say hard or soft cover. Are they selling both?

In Response to KnightofTruth & Fad (Gary),

yes I think that one of the banes of collecting is seeing your 'exclusive' item turning out to be re-made again and being not as exclusive as what you once thought.

You pay hundreds for something on eBay and then a few months later, an official store starts selling it for a fraction of the cost.

That said, I understand the reasoning from the other angle though. It can also be a blessing if, as a collector, you don't have it yet.

Gary has said that he understands this and will be putting certain 'markings' on the items to state the difference. That's a great way to solve the issue in my opinion. I think a similar thing happened with the inFamous Delsin Rowe Statue?

I pitched that, actually. Wanted to recreate the watch and have it ship with a printed sticker or something with an accurate broken glass pattern on it. Everyone else was less into the idea than I was....
