You can pre-order in store, but some people find that method more unreliable.

Depending on the size of the store, it varies how many Steelbooks each store gets.

If you do pre-order in store, you may also want to go early on release date to pick it up, before they give it away.

So I'm thinking of not buying any more games from Futureshop with steelbooks, and just buy them later on at the end of the year (cuz my backlog is huge lol) and picking up the steelbooks on ebay.
Does anyone think this would be cheaper than buying a new game at full price with a free steelbook?
I'm only considering this because it looks like Futureshop switched to in store only steelbook giveaways

I'm sure it depends on whether or not you're going to buy those game at some point regardless of the steel.

You can get most FS steels for 15 to 25 bucks if you're patient so if you do want the game as well you'd have to wait until that was 35 or 40 bucks to break even and then you're getting a used game instead of new.

Honestly it might be better to buy all the games you want get the steel for free and then just buy the steels for games you don't want/ don't want to pay retail for.

Oh, I only buy steels for games I have. Yeah I figured I would pretty much be breaking even, I'm just going back to school and money's gonna be tight at the beginning of 2012 and I thought it might be cheaper to pick up the games like 6 months down the line.

If you are willing to wait that long to get the game, you probably would save by buying the steel near the release but after the initial price gouging and then getting the game for around 20 bucks or so 6 months down the line.

I thought you were getting the game within a couple of weeks of its release which is why I said the previous stuff
