Talking Re: Super smash bros bundle

Just noticed "wave 2" of the amiibos are up for preorder (but not at Best Buy yet). Includes Captain Falcon, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit, and...Princess Zelda!

For SSB4WiiU I have 2 copies of the standard edition paid for already at Best Buy to get those Smash-Fest coins, so I have to keep those preorders I guess. But once I have the coins in hand I want to return the standard editions and get 2 copies of the bundle edition instead. Will Best Buy refund me or just give me store credit? To be safe I was thinking I would preorder the bundle edition at Best Buy, rather than GameStop or Amazon, so that if I can only get store credit I can apply it to my preorders for the bundle edition. But I'm still anxiously waiting for Best Buy to update their stock photo of the bundle.

Also guys if you didn't see it yet, Europe has announced two of their own bundles. One with just the adapter (no GameCube controller included), and one with the Mario amiibo.

Yay the US gets a better deal on a Nintendo special edition for once. If there's interest in the US edition now I'll help some of you guys import it.

regarding gameplay - I'm rather peeved that they put "Dark Pit" as another character. I mean, he's an exact clone of Pit, just... "dark". Why couldn't that have been an outfit change? So far that's my biggest gripe about it -- wasted a perfectly good slot on a color pallet swap.

Besides that, I'm enjoying the game -- forgot how much I like Smash since its been forever since I've played the Wii one I hope they do something really special with the Wii-U version to make it different from the 3DS version (even though they already said they were not going to change the roster).

Now that they've already launched the 3DS version, they could totally add new secret unlockable characters in the Wii-U version and say that they were referring to the "starting roster" if people complain - I'd be alright with that

the JAPAN SMASH BROS WII U limited edition bundle will come with an exclusive WHITE gamecube styled controller..it looks identical to the US black version, (barring obviously being white) and has the same smash bros "smash ball/"flamed" logo as well..they also get to choose the black one if they wish..so far white contoller is JAPAN only..white controller in Japan can be had separately as well.

these amibo's are scaring me...i feel compelled to collect them all, because of the colorful box art work, plus them all of course being awesome Nintendo characters..but i think they'd keep releasing soooo many, that there's just no way to have a "complete" collection unless your super wealthy, not only that, but i see this going the route of "exclusives" maybe like "recolors" as well, such as only at Comic Con, or only at E3 or only in some foreign market or only at Nintendo World NYC...this is a trend Nintendo has been on as of late with promos and it's really terrifying to think...like these amibo's so far "i want them all"...every single one of them..but where's the room for these?

we might actually also need a separate dedicated ambiibo thread...also another thing, what if they start doing a bundle exclusive?..like 10 characters that are also individually available, but 2 in the box that are exclusive as part of limtied edition set, but the price is like $200?...or do a wii u system bundle, where there's 2 amiibos that can only be found in the wii u system bundle for $300 etc...this thing can get out of hand.

Might as well just make it for all these collectable game toys like skylanders, disney infinity, that pokemon game with some, Amibos, there is also a Japanese Kamen Rider game that going to add collectable toys to it.

Yeah screw that. A complete collection of these would be impressive but that's like the only thing you would be able to collect. So for me that's just not gonna happen.

Hey Twisted did you see somewhere Japan's bundle definitely includes the controller? Everything I've seen so far says Europe, AUS/NZ, and Japan just get the adapter in their bundles.

Wish Nintendo had made these controllers wireless, but I guess then they couldn't hawk an overpriced adapter at us.

They tweeted earlier today that you'll be able to use the adapter with Wavebirds! Wohoo! Glad I kept 3 of 'em! (Now if I can just find the other 2 I had around the house)

Nice, I still have my two Wavebirds too. Now I can blame controller lag when I lose online.

I'm sure Smash purists are happy about the controller as is. I just think this generation of console will look pretty lame with wires coming out the front of it. Not to mention the wireless functionality components of modern controllers have probably reduced enough in size (and lag) in the past 12 years that they could have fit them in the standard GCN controller shell without increasing its size as they had to do for the Wavebird.

I'm pretty sure we already had a "Disney Infinity" thread - I remember seeing the exclusives on there.

I'm really hoping that they don't do "exclusive/limited" edition versions of these amiibos as that'd be annoying, but if they didn't, they'd be the only ones (which isn't unlike Nintendo).

Also, regarding the complaint about "too many to collect" or "too expensive" -- I think that's going a bit overboard. They're ~$12 each (less w/GCU) and will undoubtedly end up being trade-able at GS and the such and I'm sure you'll be able to purchase them pre-owned and all that like the other figures. There's not going to be any shortage of these. Collecting them doesn't require you to sell everything you've got, even if you only bought 2/month you're only out $25/month. That's not really breaking the bank for any dedicated collector on a budget here... Also, while they DO have quite a few characters (even just in a Smash roster setting), too many too quick will kill the passion for these en masse - it really will. 1/2 the "joy" of collecting those DI or Skylander figures is that the collectors get that brief momentary sense of joy that they've got the whole collection. If they release 50+ of these in the first year they're going to lose a lot of people who will just throw up their hands and say "forget this, I'm out". So hopefully Nintendo will have a staggered release schedule on these things to keep the collectors (and our wallets) happy.
