Not sure what everyone else does, but I've been fairly successful with my strategies thus far -- missing the Greninja was partly my fault for not having the backup method running (which would've at least got me him). I'm not sure just how committed and willing to do some of these you folks might be, but if it saves some fellow CE'ers some time and money, then I guess it was worth sharing:

Amiibo Hunting Tips:

Twitter & Push Notifications (Cell)
- Follow "amiibo news" on Twitter
- Download the Twitter app to your phone and set Amiibo News to send push notifications to your phone
- Repeat for "amiibo_tracker" (notice the _ there)
- The tracker notifies you of any changes to Amazon currently but is modified regularly to include other sites. Amiibo News gets his sources from a bunch of other places on the internet, but is pretty timely and lots of people notify him instantly when THEY find something out. It helped me get Jigglypuff yesterday IIRC.

Browser Tips
- Next, find the direct links to whatever amiibo you're stalking and open them up on different browsers (chrome/firefox/ie etc), make sure that your account information is logged in and everything is valid as well on each one
- For Amazon, I'd recommend turning on the "one click buy" option, just click on the amiibo when they go live and worry about the payment information and all that later (since Amazon is so easy to fix if you make a mistake)
- If using chrome, download the page monitor add-on (may also be available for FF, but I haven't tried it yet since FF is my primary browser).
- You can change settings on page monitor to notify you via a desktop pop-up and a sound as much as every 5 seconds for any changes to a particular page (or page element). For TRU, the entire page can be monitored, for Amazon, you'll need to target specific elements

Forum Support
-Find a few other forums that have a large population and keep a window open with the amiibo-dedicated threads (neogaf, CAG, or obviously reddit work well)

Mobile Apps
-Join any of the "Line app" groups that send alerts to your cellphone for Amiibo-related news as well (**this was what I didn't have running and since Twitter guys were asleep, I missed Greninja)

-Download any of the specific store apps (or all of them) to your mobile device and keep your information up-to-date and valid, logged in, and on the pages for the specific amiibo you're hunting

-Oh yeah, and make sure your phone is charged and you bring it with you even into the Bathroom! Can't miss a moment with these!

That's all I've got, but that pretty much covers you for being notified on the PC and on the Go for near-immediate notifications of your desired amiibo becoming available. If you work at a PC and are able to keep you phone nearby you'll know within seconds (hopefully that's long enough) of any changes for any of the major retailers and have 2 or 3 ways to order (2 browsers + mobile).

Also, you can easily turn any of these notifications off once you got your desired amiibo, so its really just for these crazy windows of pre-orders (or later if you still haven't gotten one).
