Sick thing is I could have ordered from the other sites too but because my order went through on Amazon UK yesterday I didn't bother. By the time I got the email that the order was cancelled I was obviously too late to place an order on the other sites.

Same situation with me. I had a long talk yesterday with Amazon guy (I'd rather not mention his name here) and told him that Amazon screwed this up and meanwhile I had a chance to plance my pre-order somewhere else, but I did not bother since my pre-order went through Amazon. Obviously afte receiving cancellation from Amazon it was sold out everywhere.

I tried him to ask to allocate the piece for me since it was not my fault, but no chance. Instead of that he gave 5 GBP credit as an appology (what a joke) and "assured" me, that they have ENOUGH pieces for all customers and that he personally will let me know today as soon they will open pre-orders again. Guess what? (bla bla bla, ...). Damn jokers!

Strange, I did the same. In the moment when the Pre-order option showd up I hit the button, but in the next step it said "Your shopping cart is empty". I did repeat this for another half a hour with the same result, tried also different browser.

They screwed this up for me for second time and I am sure it was manipulated.

Or is it only me with this experience?

Well, I have my order # and all that...but I'm not gonna keep my
hopes up, yesterday they canceled the order a few hours after placing it...

It seems that Master_Hayabusa also got screwed over from amazon...

Yeah...Ask Amazon to compensate you for screwing you over, I did that yesterday, and they gave me £10.

That sucks.
I got one for a member here, the portuguese store where i buy some stuff from did the pre sale on a nice way.
They divided in 4 days/groups and gave access to the pre order page accordingly:

Day/Group 1 was the people that had bought PS4 from them before
Day/Group 2 was the people who bought PS4 exclusives from them (thats where i was inserted)
Day/Group 3 is their top 100 spending customers
Day/Group 4 is everyone
