I'm really hoping that they don't do "exclusive/limited" edition versions of these amiibos as that'd be annoying, but if they didn't, they'd be the only ones (which isn't unlike Nintendo).

Also, regarding the complaint about "too many to collect" or "too expensive" -- I think that's going a bit overboard. They're ~$12 each (less w/GCU) and will undoubtedly end up being trade-able at GS and the such and I'm sure you'll be able to purchase them pre-owned and all that like the other figures. There's not going to be any shortage of these. Collecting them doesn't require you to sell everything you've got, even if you only bought 2/month you're only out $25/month. That's not really breaking the bank for any dedicated collector on a budget here... Also, while they DO have quite a few characters (even just in a Smash roster setting), too many too quick will kill the passion for these en masse - it really will. 1/2 the "joy" of collecting those DI or Skylander figures is that the collectors get that brief momentary sense of joy that they've got the whole collection. If they release 50+ of these in the first year they're going to lose a lot of people who will just throw up their hands and say "forget this, I'm out". So hopefully Nintendo will have a staggered release schedule on these things to keep the collectors (and our wallets) happy.
I dout Gs will except these as trade ins that is like the hole reason they refuse to take skylands or disney infinity stuff.

Sense when iv never seen them take in the toys before. I know at one time they tried but they go stuck with so much used crap from skylanders 1 that they were getting it in faster then the demand. Also people seem to want them use for stickers and other crap you wouldnt get with the toys used. Iv seen gone into gamestop before and seen them refuse to take in the stuff saying it just does not sell here and when the fad wears off they will just be stuck with a bunch of unsellable crap. It kind of like with the hole guitar hero fad after it died some stores just ended up throwing the plastic crap away because no one wanted it after a while. Also back on the skylanders note iv never even seen a used toy for sail at gamestop even.

They started last month. One of my local stores has quite a few now.

Talking Re: Super smash bros bundle

Got my Zelda amiibo preordered at Best Buy now that they've added the new amiibos to their site! I've also e-mailed customer support to confirm the bundle they're offering is indeed the special edition bundle and not just the game, controller, and adapter sold together at a discount as their stock image would seem to imply. Of course it's most likely the special edition bundle but I have to be sure. It's interesting to me that at the time of this writing it can only be preordered through Best Buy; Amazon and GameStop list the (special edition) bundle, but it's apparently not available for preorder yet.

Also regarding my question about handling the preorder exchange I uncovered some advice from the Best Buy support forum:

My question would be, is there anyway to get the Coin and the $5 certificate if I moved the preorder from the vanilla copy to the bundled copy if I keep the cancelled pre order receipt along with the newer bundled receipt?

The best suggestion I can offer would be to keep your current pre-order in place and inquire about exchanging it for the Gamecube Controller bundle when the game is released. This way, you’ll obtain the pre-order bonuses you originally should have and you still may be able to leave the store with the version of the game that you want!
Hope that can help someone else.

Edit: Back in stock at GameStop as of Oct 9.

I pre-ordered the bundle on Amazon Sept 26. Perhaps it is currently out of stock?

Oh? Yeah definitely could be the case. I better get my preorder in now and ask questions later.

Edit: Ran over to Best Buy and put $10 down on 2 copies. If it's the wrong version after all oh well. For some reason you have to pay in full for preorders on their website.

This has been around a while now I guess but I'll post it here in case you guys might have missed it:

Super Smash Bros. Collector's Edition Official Strategy Guide by Prima Games

That little yellow stripe on the corner says "image not final." I'd be OK with that design, but seems a shame it's not more colorful considering the host of characters in the game they could have made use of.

Much cheaper at Amazon.

Default Re: Super smash bros SWAG items

Thanks for posting that, thought that I already had it pre-ordered but looks like I didn't -- all set now!

Also, why didn't anyone mention the Micromania (France) or Gamestop (Spain) pre-order bonus of the dog tags anywhere? If we did, my apologies but its just strange that we didn't have any official announcement about this pre-order swag item?! Maybe we need a "nintendo" pre-order bonus thread like the dedicated AC thread eh?

I remember Twisted posted about those dog tags but I forget what thread it was in. I would definitely find a Nintendo preorder bonus thread useful.
