Ill wait to see if the price of their physcals drops as I've cancelled my pre order after playing this weekend beta, really wanted it to be good but it just bored me shitless, basically a bad Skyrim port to the MMO genre.
Yeah I have a feeling it will bee forced into free to play after some time. Might take a year or two though.

I doubt it is the Skyrim engine. I am no developer but I would suspect they built and entirely new engine for this since it is a completely different style game (MMORPG as opposed to SPRPG).

There will be an initial surge of players at first... but if it does not get better then what I saw after a few hours of playing then it will bleed players rapidly.

I can't help but feel that all the negativity surrounding ESO on this board is a bit misplaced.

From the point of view of someone who has thoroughly enjoyed the TES series since Morrowind, I can honestly say that ESO has met my expectations and I'm really having a great time with it!

There's differences yes but I think people are jumping on the bandwagon after one or two hours of playing a beta or even watching some videos on youtube. Plus, based on the way that the devs over at Zenimax Online Studios have been responding to the fanbase during this late stage of development, they really do want to put out the game that people want. There's been so many changes and enhancements over the course of the last 3 betas that anyone who has got a predetermined opinion on the game based off what they saw months ago should really consider holding their judgement until they've experienced it.

Will it go F2P? There's always that possibility because I don't think the MMO market is as lucrative as it used to be so only time will tell. But for the moment, I think they're on the right path with it. The PvE is great, the PvP is great, it looks fantastic and it plays extremeley smoothly.

You may be right for some people. But I can say everything I have said about the game is true... at least for me and others.

There will be a lot who like it and a lot who do not. But I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it is not worth $60 + $15 a month to play, again for me. And I think it is not for the "average" TES fan also.

We will have to wait and reserve final judgement on the overall game when it is released... but I will not be jumping on board. I am very interested to see how low or high the review scores are.

Yeah, you're right in saying that it's not for everyone but then again, there is no game that is for everyone. The price tag is normal. Even if you play this game for 1 month (first month is inclusive of the retai price), you're still paying the same amount you would for any AAA title and if you're even somewhat interested in the ES series then you're likely to get your moneys worth.

There's not many massive releases that will hold attention for more than 1 month. Granted there's the FPS crowd that play for thousands of hours but that's a different beast all together.

I'll admit that I've been taken by the game for a while and that I'm probably biased towards it. That said, I'm also interested to see how the reviews go. I've got a feeling that they're going to be slow burning because of the negative press it's had previously but it has been impressing more and more people as time goes by and I think the vast majority of people are starting to see its potential now that there's been a bit more openess around it. But like you said, it's not for everyone and that's totally fine!

I agree there is potential... there always was with a IP as engrossing as TES. But I felt it was not capitalized on, really my gripe is it feels a little empty and is too far towards MMOs. I would call it a watered down verison of TES... but that is simply my take on it.

Like I have said it may open up and get way better in the "end game content" that MMO players always talk about. I have never had the patience or the time to ever get into an MMO to get to that content people say is so good at the end.

I have to disagree with you way of thinking of the price... MMOs are literately made to be a very long term time investment and a month should not be enough time to play and get bored of it. Just my understanding of MMOs.

Is that correct? 0.0 I've already said to myself that if it is more than 5GBP a month or unless it has a discounted annual sub, I won't be paying after the first month. I'll be playing it on XB1, so let's weigh up.

Spoiler!

Do I look like a mug!? >.< It needs to be F2P pretty soon to keep me interested.

guys FYI(= For Your Information @ flatout ) the first Month in an MMO by buying CE or regular version is always for free. One month seems fairly enough to play troh the singleplayer (One of 3 sides).

Then you can decide to play or not. I will still buy it, i will still play it. And if i like it i pay if not ... then who cares

Who does not know what FYI means?

Yeah the first month for the first buyer may be free as usual... but if this MMO can be beaten in a month then what is the point of a subscription MMO?

So they should have never even bothered making the game because we can all play and beat it during the first free month and then no one will subscribe?

I suppose if someone had tons of free time they could do just that, but a normal person working a normal job would not have the time... I should rephrase "should not have the time".
