I really do care geralds about the Japan C.E. and exclusives..in fact I remember about 3 years ago, we had at least 3 people on this forum from Japan who were willing to export as well..but all 3 are gone ..in fact one of the members during that time was gracious enough to get me a rare Japan C.E. "at cost"...and now it goes for 3-4 times that price on ebay...I also am fond of Japan Nintendo variants etc...honestly I don't care much for Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, or Call of Duty..because I think the brands have been diluted with the excessive releases and amount of swag..but Nintendo and some of their awesome Japan exclusive swag does pull on my heart strings...LOL..by all means Gerald, please do share more info about those rare DS/3DS editions for the US you mentioned

I bet the hole reason they left was because not many people care a small percentage if that even care. It is pretty clear that this site is never truely going to grow tword that this website isnt attracting many asian people and most of the people that care about that kind of stuff are not coming to this site. A lot of people into that kind of thing go to website more geared to that. Despite you may care people are just not vocal about it. Most of those CEs are not even rare or if they are just no one cares about them to be valuable. They probably will be later on after the systems become a collectors item just look at other nintendo stuff and its price these days.

Most Japanese CEs are not even that special let just make a sound track as ether in a CE or a preorder bonus ok time for a dx back ok then wallscroll and coffee cup. I have ranted about this in the past and i keep going over the same thing constant. Even if someone like you cares or the very small percentage of people care like you there is not enough love shown on this website for the games. I couldnt even begin to tell you about all the ds stuff or some of the 3DS stuff some of it was preorder bonus some of it especially some of the Japanese companies started doing website exclusives. Some of it was just first print that I no longer have the information for. Even in Europe there a crap ton of it for the same reason you would have to contact indavidual people from each country and hope you can find out more. The stuff is probably only hard the come by because again shows how much people cared. Even some of the rarest ps3 Japanese games or CEs have fallen by like 90% now that they are old the market outside Japan just doesnt care enough the only reason alot of the non Japanese market start caring about some games is because after items become a collectors item and people really want to own the game just for playing they just get the cheaper Japanese versions.

Like i have an extremely hard to find ps3 CE that you can look up online and you really can not find much about it at all it was just a preorder exclusive ce that again had no contact anyone cared for nor was it a popular series people collect for.

You are part of a very small percentage of this site its basically show its not going to grow in that direction go ells were. There is a lot of stuff that could be done to try and improve on it but there is no garantee that it will help much so why bother. If we tried and nothing improved that it would have just been a waist of time that could have been spent on something much better that this site could use to help it grow for what is making it grow. In a nut shell stop trying to force something that as has been proven so far is just not going to happen.

I gotta say, geralds is totally right there but, there are more factors than just content and franchise.

With the newer consoles doing away with region lock (PAL, NTSC-J), the interest may increase some. It will probably have a larger impact on hardware, rather than software, as the games themselves are still in Japanese.

Those are the kickers really, region lock and language. One can overlook the PAL/NTSC-US "barrier" due to the games being released in English (and several with multiple language support). Aside from that, the next biggest kicker is the price + shipping + import duties.

And like Letrico pointed out, Japanese CE's come out with ridiculous frequency.

I wouldn't expect any single person to keep updates on every CE or CE variant coming out of the Japanese market. Some major titles do deserve the attention (Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc...) but unless it is A: overwhelming popular &/or B: an over-the-top CE, I don't feel it would be worth the effort.

That isn't just this forum, but in general. From my few weeks here/lurking, I doubt there would be much interest in half of my collection... being vintage/rare and PC rather than console. I just don't feel that vibe.

Being a Final Fantasy fan since the SNES release and cemented with FFVII for the PS... I just thought I'd toss the Japanese version in this thread.

I do not think region locking has a hole lot to do with if anything at all. If someone cared enough to want to play the game then they would find away to get a round it. If they have no intention of play region lock really does not matter. Money I would agree if it wasn't for the fact iv seen people willing to throw tons of cash on say something AC related its all in what people are interested language barrier aside. If it was a language issue then no one would be interested in say no one would be interested in say a rusian or sweedish AC ce for example that can not speak said language. It has to be a world wide popular fanchise or have that content like a steelbook that people like for people to go apes shit over.

As you said only those big name Japanese franchises outside like Final Fantasy or Zelda are all that is worth talking about. Even if its over the top I really don't think anyone is going to really care unless its an internationally recognized franchise or has that one little tiny piece of content people cant live without like a steelbook then people will probably focus more on that then the content itself. More then likely at least on this website chances are people are not going to have much intention to play a game they can not understand anyway they just want it for the sake of owning it kind of thing.

I don't believe it is one singular thing. It is a combination of several. Scarcity, cost, subject matter, language, content, etc...

I can remember when ANYTHING from Japan was a amazing find. The internet has changed that a lot. The world was much smaller in the 80's & 90's.

Personal preference is another aspect. Some collectors want ever version of something, ever made, on every platform. Some only care about a specific platform. Some only care about specific regions. Etc... (That whole list of preferences is to big to tackle). For instance, I tend to get versions from the US and from the country of origin. (Though... I've really been thinking about the Japanese versions of x-com)

I don't think any one person should be soley responsible for a "collectible" from anywhere. It should be the fan(s) of a franchise/system who share the information and load. To me, it is less about having/being a reporter and more about sharing enthusiasm for something I like.

Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but I was wandering if anyone here would have a spare code for the FFV demo that they wouldn't mind giving away. Thanks in advance.

Edit: nevermind I already got one

Wow! Just have to say that the Pepita store deserves some sort of pat on the back or high-five for the packing on this item! I got mine in yesterday and the thing is easily one of the best well-done packed things I've ever purchased from a company ever! It looks like it had been done by one of our members on here (and then some!). Going to call/email them later today just to let them know that it was noticed and appreciated. It's like night and day compared to the things I've purchased from them in the past (and even recently).

Yen Press will be publishing the Final Fantasy Type-0 manga in North America which was previously only available with the collector’s edition of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, released earlier in March on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Not that I'm a huge manga fan or anything, but I really hope there's some difference between the CE one and this one. Hate it when companies do things like include something in a CE and then later on release just that thing for separate purchase -- sort of devalues the CE in my opinion.
