....Aww no, I am guessing the tournament edition is not going to include this stuff huh? I don't think I am up to spending $250.00 on mortal kombat when I havent bought a fighting game in years.

Correct. Only the hardest of the hardcore MK fans would consider paying $250 to get all of these collectors items.

But eh, I'm just after the tournament edition stick, so the choice is easy for me. Ah, the nostalgia..

Hmmm, I also have the tournement edition preordered. Do we know what the production is going to be for the Kollectors edition? Do you think it would be one of those editions that is half price in six months?

I don't forsee either of these editions increasing in value.

The tournament edition will likely decrease in value to a point. The stick itself will have value and the TE wont drop below that. Look at the Tekken 5 and 6 LEs that were bundled with sticks... they're valued at about what the stick is worth.

The Kollector's Edition will likely be worthless in a few months. Just look at the Xbox 1/PS2 Mortal Kombat KEs... they can still be bought new in some places for around $20. Similarly the MK vs DC CE and SFIV CEs are all significantly devalued.

Fighting games just don't hold their value....

I'm buying both, but I'm also a huge MK fan (I even have a UMK3 Arcade machine in my game room).

----------

A general rule for determining if a CE will hold it's values or increase in value

1. is it an RPG?
2. is it a NEW franchise (ie: not a sequel and not based on a movie or existing property) with little to no marketing?
3. was production limited?
4. Have past CEs from the franchise increased in value?

If you answered "YES" to one of these questions it will likely hold it's value at or around RRP
If you answered yes to two or more of these questions it will likely increase in value over time.

Hmm.. Now I'm reconsidering buying the MvC3 steelbook for full price on day one.

It's good information concerning the MK Kollector's Edition, though. I will look forward to getting a copy at a heavily reduced price just months after release.

Those are some good tips.

I noticed Tales of Vesperia LE doesn't go cheap.

You are also making me reconsider paying the upfront $150 for the tournament edition. I am not a huge fan of fighting games which doesn't help the case. Something that caught my eye was that it has a production limit of 20,000 units in NA.

That doesn't seem like a lot to me, but as you said and I have seen the Tekken CE sitting on store shelves decreasing in value. Maybe I will switch to just preordering the Kollectors Edition, save myself $50 bucks and take the chance the tournament edition will drop in price. I hate wishing for a special edition to drop in price, but there are just too many games to buy new for every one.
