Do we know that the Game Gears version doesn't include the DLC which comes with the Special Edition? Or are these details just not available at the moment?

They recently Tweeted that anyone pre-ordering the Special Edition will get a free upgrade to the SteelBook, so I assume this edition contains everything the Special Edition does...

    EDIT:
This info is also displayed on their site listings:

I suspect they will most likely send the SteelBook out alongside the Special Edition of the game as a bonus, rather than the game being sent inside the SteelBook

    That's my fear too.

Information as it stands is limited to just Steelbook and voucher. including details about a voucher leads me to believe the information is up to date and accurate. We have to take the information it as it comes.

  3. Gemini-Phoenix:
    Game Gears has stated:

So those who have ordered the Special Edition and have had their order upgraded to the SteelBook will in fact be missing out on the DLC from the Special Edition. If they wanted that DLC, then they're going to be disappointed if their order has been automatically upgraded...

Pre-ordered, was going to wait for the price to drop but its got a steel book so i have no choice but to purchase it.

  5. Gemini-Phoenix:
Well the RRP for the standard Special Edition is only £39.99, so £32.99 / £33.75 is a bargain in comparison! Although, in contrast, it has been stated that the SteelBook version will not contain all of the DLC from the Special Edition

  6. The Russian Bear:
£22 for the PC version is even better. I've always wondered why Consoles versions are more expensive, something to do with licensing I think. Anyone enlighten me to the true reason?

  7. gurpswoo1:
That is correct, licences are the biggest contributing factors with regards to the inflated prices.

However there is also the fact that the PC user wouldn't except a higher price and the console buyers would. Modern Warfare is a prime example of that.

  8. The Russian Bear:
Thanks for the quick response. I think the most expensive PC games Standard editions I've seen where some of the Call of duty and Starcraft 2.

Still probably better than severely overrated Cod.

Exactly. It annoys me how much reviewers praise innovation in games, and yet score COD AAA year after year after year of the same ol' stuff. I mean, the games are good (but compared to the money they bring in though, not so much. I mean you'd think generating billions you'd maybe expect functional servers and leaderboards, and no hacking and such.). But I'd give them about a 8 score.

Also, got my regular brink edition today at Future Shop and it came with a really nice, embossed sleeve.

  12. Gemini-Phoenix:
I received my Brink SteelBook from Game Gears today, and can confirm that it DOESN'T come sealed. Well, sort of. Not sealed as you would expect, but does come with a clear circular sticker across the opening

I can also confirm that it doesn't come with any of the bonus DLC which the regular "Special Edition" comes with, so it's really a toss up between a nice unsealed SteelBook packaging or having the in-game bonuses. I guess the long-term collector will have opted for the SteelBook

  13. gurpswoo1:
Oh no circular seals, it sounds like Gamegears sealed these up. I guess they got the steelbook separately and then placed the normal game inside.

I think I might go with the Australian collector's edition with the extra contents.

Due to the fact that there are no external markings for either PS3, X360, or PC on the SteelBook itself, I am guessing you are not far from the truth!

If that is indeed the issue, then technically we should also be given the bonus DLC as found in the Special Edition - Especially those who pre-ordered that edition in the first place and had their order "upgraded" to this SteelBook...

If I had ordered one for each console, I would be quite frustrated as there is no clear way of telling which is which until you open them up. As far as I know, the PS3 ones come in the same Dvd size cases as the other versions, rather than the smaller Blu-Ray sized cases (Requires citation)

    Ok..... sounds like a bummer.

You have a point. Was a nightmare finding out what happened to the DLC for the Sims Medieval CE.

I'm confused. Does this affect everyone? Or did you write to them to complain about the issue first?

I haven't received any eMail from them, but then I haven't opened mine so I wouldn't know whether something was wrong or not
