I remember when I first noticed that Amazon.com was selling an “exclusive” Fallout 3 Survival edition. I had already pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition at my local GameStop. Pouring over the details I came to the conclusion that it was nothing more than the Collector’s Edition along with a clock shaped like a Pip-Boy. That seemed cool, however it was a whopping $50 more than the Collector’s Edition, double the price of the standard edition, which made for a damn expensive clock. It was unclear whether they were even boxed together or if you were just shipped the clock like a separate pre-order bonus. I decided to pass because I didn’t need a $50 clock, though I came to regret that decision.
Destructoid has a video up showcasing an unboxing of the upcoming European CE for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. Somewhat different than the North American version of the CE but here’s hoping all will look as nice.
Destructoid recently posted up an unboxing video of the upcoming Fable III Limited Collector’s Edition, along with some photos of the contents.
So far it looks much better than the Fable II LCE. Also, is it just me, or are playing cards the new favorite pack-in for Collector’s Editions these days? Both Fallout New Vegas and Dead Rising 2 included decks as well.
I picked up the Alan Wake Limited Collector’s Edition last night and I must say I’m very impressed with it. A game that was first announced around the Xbox 360’s launch it’s been a long time coming, and they definitely delivered on making this what I would consider to be the best CE release so far this year, and definitely one of the most unique CE’s this generation.
If you’re into Anime and Video Games you’re probably already well aware of this quite rare game release (at least rare for US gamers). Kotaku already did a video unboxing, and there honestly isn’t much to see (literally physically and figuratively pictorially) so I’ll spare you the details. Images are up on the game page though.
The cover art is apparently too hot for GameStop so if you want to skeeve out to the game box you’ll have to do it here as opposed to in the store. Just don’t get… ice cream… all over your keyboard.
…and yes the titted mouse pad is equal parts cool, creepy, and confusing, just as you’d imagine it would be.
So I picked up my Pre-Order of Splinter Cell Conviction Collector’s Edition last night. The Clerk recognized me and already knew what I was there for; starting to fetch my game before I even had a chance to respond to his greeting. He asked to make sure I knew the included USB cards were known to be faulty, informing me that he canceled his own pre-order because of it. I told him I didn’t really care, I don’t think I’ve ever used an included USB stick in the past.
So I picked up my Pre-Order of God of War III Ultimate Edition last night, there were a few stacked on the counter behind the register and one of the clerks tried to get me to give-up my pre-order, lamenting that he neglected to order one for himself. Apparently they only got in 7 of this edition, and that only covered the pre-orders that had been placed. Already this sounds good to me because rarity makes these CEs appreciate, unlike bin-fillers that flooded the market such as the Halo 3 Legendary Edition.
