Saints Row 4 CE vote for items!

Was posted a bit ago on Ps3 trophy site. Its Deep silver asking Fans what they want in the Saints row 4 CE thats coming this aug. There are a number of items to vote on, including STEELBOOK and Statues.

I've been toying with how we could do something similar for the CEs we want to make, or whether a kind of general Hot-or-Not category approach made sense in terms of what collectors like in their CEs (I'm so sick of book-ends, but they were everywhere for a while).

Have you guys seen this happen much with other CEs in planning?

Yeah, they did this for Dead Island too, which funnily enough was Deep Silver, also. I like it, it shows that the companies do care, and our feedback ensures that we're more likely to get a CE that we want :) xx

Personally i think blizzard makes the best CE, looks at the last one for HOTS, big artbook, making off, physical soundtrack. Only thing that could be better was to include steelbook.

I do like these polls, but they are only useful for CE that will include miscellaneous items.

It happens on occasion. I think different collectors like to see different things me personally I care most about the quality of the packaging, good materials, well designed etc. as for included items I like anything that is a 1:1 replica from the game world, replica weapons, or other trinkets that played a key role in the game.

I know other collectors love figurines and statues but I personally don't like them.

Normal gamer tend to like extra DLC but I think most collectors find that to be fairly worthless.

Some things that everyone pretty much always appreciates:

SteelBooks
Large format Hard-cover artbooks
Cloth Maps
A package design that looks great on the shelf.

I want to especially point out that last item there... Even regular gamers appreciate box art that looks great and has an artistic flare to it, as opposed to just the tired GAME TITLE above the GAME HERO art style.

Case and point, there was such an outcry from fans over the lame/generic cover art for Bioshock Infinite that they opted to put alternate cover art on the reverse side of the cover paper, and put it to a vote.

Considering CE's will SHOULD sell out on release day, there's no real point to designing the artwork for "shelf appeal" for uninformed gamers, instead it should be something that fans of the franchise will appreciate, and look like something other than just a game box.

Blizzard makes the best CEs out there. Same for CDPROJEKT and the witcher.

The dead space dev team edition was perfect, one of the best CEs this year.

I liked the decision to not include the game inside and keep the costs down.

The Dead Space 3 Dev Team is, definitely, a step in the right direction.}

EDIT: and Ryan, don't do what you guys did with dead space 3, announce the dev team edition, the artbook and the watch in the same month. Stop announcing things a couple of days in advance, including the dragon age Vol 1.

There's no need to hide things from us and announce it a couple of days before you open the pre orders. Learn from Sideshow, announce everything 2-3 months in advance so we have enough time to save money and you don't piss off the fans.

I totally agree with this whole part here. I keep a VERY strict budget, to the point of, I can't just make a random item purchase that I happen to spot on ebay or elsewhere. So a few months notice is very much appreciated by me, as it means that I can try my best to tweak my budget to fit whatever it is, in, and if I can't fit it, then at least I know there was nothing I could do.

But when it's announced a few days prior to going up for order, I can't do anything about it. And then I get pissed because I've missed out (hence why I am gutted about the signed copies of the Dragon Age book).

bit more notice as above, although i did not purchase it but the dead space 3 box with all the stuff was very cool a similar thing for a franchise i follow would be a day one

as for art books i would rather buy a fully fledged art book than get a mini one to be honest

i like statues, steelbooks and little physical bits and bob's like keyrings, themed usb sick etc

one of my biggest dislikes is varying ce's by region i can understand a price scale structure ie bioshock infinite thats understandable as it helps if people can only afford the mid level edition, but 3 completely different editions ie dead island is annoying, especially when they all command a high price

You know what Deep Silver are like with controversy (Kinda remind me of ID software back in the 90s). Anyhoooo I would be slightly surprised (And indeed somewhat disappointed) if the
fabled purple bendy stick from Saints Row The Third didn't make it as part of the CE lol.
