So saw on a bunch of sites earlier today that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has been announced from WB as a "third-person action game". I'm hoping they come out with a neat CE for this one. I really enjoyed the War In the North CE over here in the states. Still one of my favorites, and the game was/is a lot of fun too!

Any of you heard anything about a CE for this, or anticipate it being a *flop* (like some of the other LOTR games) or are you eagerly anticipating it to be a GREAT game like me?

After reading through the write-up on this from GameInformer, it looks to me like a Witcher-type clone... anyone else had any thoughts on it?

the LotR has a lot of potential in videogame form,I kind of gave up on it because most so far are just crapish -_-
Hoping something cool comes out of it.

I don't know if the one you're talking about is the PC Rts one vhal, they all have similar names, even the moba one on psn has a similar name if I recall right.
Anyway the Rts Game of Lotr was its best representation so far in my opinion, that one was great

Now that we can pre-order these on Amazon now for next-gen systems I hope they work on a nice CE for it. Even though the game looks like an Assassin's Creed meets LOTR cross-over, I'm still kind of excited for it! :)

Well, not only does it look like the US is NOT getting a steelbook or any CE treatment, but we're also getting the sad and pathetic "retailer exclusive bonus content" run-a-round. This game just became a bargain-bin purchase for me rather than a day-one. Oh well. In case any of you are still interested though, here's (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/08/02/study-middle-earth-shadow-of-mordors-pre-order-special-editio/) the details on where you can get which bonus.

One does not simply walk into a retailer, purchase Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and leave with all of the content available at the game's launch. Sorry early adventurers, this isn't like the general pre-order bonuses announced in April. This time, you're going to have to play the retailer-specific pre-order bonus game.

Placing an order with Amazon will net you the Deadly Archer Rune, which makes long-distance headshots on Sauron's Captains hurt more. Going with Walmart will reward you with the Rising Storm Rune and the probably-related 'Storm of Urfael,' which lets you go nuts with unlimited executions in combat. Opting for Steam will earn the Orc Slayer Rune, which makes special moves against Captains a bit more painful.

Best Buy orders will get the Flame of Anor Rune, which rewards high combo counts by spontaneously igniting your sword. Lastly, GameStop has The Captain of the Witch character skin and the Hidden Blade Rune, which supplies more damage for stealth attacks against Captains.

UK fans are presented with a much simpler choice: pre-ordering from Amazon UK will get you both The Flame of Arnor Rune and The Deadly Archer Rune. Otherwise you can opt for the £44.99 Special Edition (http://www.game.co.uk/en/middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-special-edition-only-at-game-304362?catGroupId=), which includes the Captain of the Watch character skin (seen below) and the Hidden Blade Rune. (strange they don't mention anything about the steelbook for the "special edition" though)
